Like with most large antelope game hunts in Africa, there really are a few options in terms of rifles which can be considered. Sable are considered large antelope and as such shot placement is critical, else the safari can end up into days of walking and tracking a wounded antelope.
When hunting plains game in Africa, try and stay away from the smaller calibres such as a .243. We would recommend any thirty-calibre shooting a flat trajectory, such as 300 Win Mag.
When considering shot placement, the professional hunter will recommend the broadside shot into the vitals. The heart and lungs present a large target and are both fatal. A wounded Wildebeest by way of example, is known as an estate/property agent, they will show the hunter the entire concession.
The camp is set in the shade of a riverine forest overlooking a busy waterhole with a swimming pool and a comfortable “Meru Style ensuite tents.”
