THE IMPALA TRIO!

The Common Impalas are abundant in the region, recognized for their reddish-brown coat and distinct black markings on their hindquarters. Hunters typically employ spot-and-stalk or stalking methods, using the terrain’s openness to approach for a successful shot. Their popularity among hunters stems from the exhilarating chase and the prized trophy they offer.

A variant of the common impala, Black Impalas are highly prized for their dark chocolate to black coats. Due to their rarity and striking appearance, they are sought after as prestigious trophies. Tracking them through bushveld or woodland edges offers a thrilling pursuit amidst their stealthy movements.

Distinguished by a unique white marking along their flanks, White Flank Impalas blend seamlessly into their surroundings while standing out with their eye-catching feature. They are a captivating target for trophy hunters, requiring skilled navigation through diverse terrains such as open plains and riverine areas.

WILDEBEEST DUO!

Renowned for its sturdy build and distinctive curved horns, the Blue Wildebeest presents a challenging and exhilarating hunt. These animals typically gather in herds across expansive open plains and bushveld areas. You might utilize a spot-and-stalk techniques, taking advantage of the clear visibility offered by these habitats to approach within shooting range.

Stalking the  Golden-hued variation of the Wildebeest adds a unique dimension to the hunt. Sporting a lighter, golden-brown coat, these individuals stand out against the typical landscape, offering hunters a distinctive trophy opportunity. While you are tracking and approaching these colour variants, it will require keen observation and strategic hunting methods from you while navigating the varying terrains of the region. Each encounter with a Golden Wildebeest promises a memorable challenge and a prized addition to any trophy collection.

Nocturnal Parade of Night Critters.

Embarking on a Honey Badger hunt is a nighttime adventure into the world of fearless determination. The Honey Badger (Ratel),  is renowned for its fearlessness and tenacity, often appearing unexpectedly while hunting for other game. Be cautious around this mammal, it is known for being exceptionally vicious.

Hunting Bushpig in this area presents both challenges and rewards amid its diverse terrain. These elusive creatures thrive in dense bushveld and woodland, where their nocturnal habits and keen senses make them difficult to track and approach.

While Baboons can be active during the day, they are also known to move and feed at night, especially in areas where they may encounter less human activity. They are renowned for their intelligence and wariness, present a challenge that rewards meticulous planning and stealthy execution. From rocky outcrops to cliffside perches, each hunt demands swift action and strategic thinking to outwit these curious yet cunning adversaries.

Vervet Monkeys are diurnal (meaning they are active during the day. However, they may also be encountered near dawn or dusk). They are agile and wary and are known for their quick reflexes and ability to evade predators.

Jackals are adaptable, opportunistic animals known for their intelligence and resourcefulness. They are primarily scavengers but also hunt small mammals, birds, and insects, often in pairs or small family groups. Jackals are mostly nocturnal, though they can also be active during the day, especially in cooler weather.

Genets are solitary, nocturnal mammals known for their sleek, cat-like appearance and agile movements. They are skilled climbers and often spend much of their time in trees, though they are also capable of moving swiftly on the ground. Genets are territorial animals, marking their home ranges with scent glands. They prefer areas with dense vegetation or cover to hide from predators.

When is the best time to hunt in South Africa?

South Africa is not regulated with regards to a specific hunting season and hunts can take place all year round. The cooler months, which run from April to October are preferred. In summer, the temperatures are just to high which can make hunting even more of a challenge. The months of November through to February are also the rainy season. Rain showers and bad weather can continue for days, literally placing a “damper” on the hunting safari.

Can I bring my own rifle when Hunting in South Africa?

International hunters bringing their own rifles will need to provide copy passports, copy airline tickets, letter of invitation from Wesley and proof of ownership.
