Tanzania is famous for its massive hippo bulls, as well as monster Nile crocodiles measuring more than 16 feet!

Game Hunting Conditions in Tanzania

  • You can only hunt animals which fall under your specific license.
  • Animals cannot be hunted from a vehicle or chased.
  • Hunting is only allowed during daylight hours.
  • Females, young or immature animals may not be hunted.

Minimum Rifle Calibers When Game Hunting in Tanzania

  • When undertaking dangerous game hunting in Tanzania, the minimum legal requirement is a .375 caliber.
  • For Cape Buffalo, larger calibers such as a .404, 416, 458, 458 Lott, or any quality double rifle from .470 and up is recommended.
  • Using hand guns on a hunting safari is strictly forbidden.
  • Hunting dangerous game with a bow or crossbow is also forbidden but they can be used on an African plains game hunt.
  • Please be advised that the hunting permits are also significantly more expensive for bow or cross bow hunting than a rifle hunting license.

The Best Time to Hunt in Tanzania

The hunting season in Tanzania runs annually from 1st July to 31st December. These months constitute the “dry season,” but the months of November and December may experience some rainfall.

The reality is that there is no “bad” time to hunt in Tanzania, it is a privileged experience that many would one to undertake.

Traveling the Lunda Nkwambi GCA Hunting Block

International hunters will land in the capital city, Dar es Salaam, before commencing the journey to the hunting grounds by means of a charter flight. Dar es Salaam is the safari gateway into Tanzania and is the largest city in east-Africa by population, and the 6th largest in Africa. Dar es Salaam is a safe city and is also the financial, commerce, and cultural capital of Tanzania.

Depending on your arrival time, you may need to overnight in the city before taking a charter flight to the city of Lunda. The charter flight, depending on the weather conditions, can take between 4 and 5 hours. Speak to Lazaro who will assist in making the necessary arrangements.

Cancelation Policy:
If the safari is cancelled 60 or more days prior to the start of the safari, and the safari is re-sold, the deposit will be returned, minus a 15% admin fee. If the safari is cancelled within 60 days of the start of the safari, there will be no refund. In the case of a force majeure the company is entitled to vary or cancel any itinerary or arrangement. We strongly recommend the following insurances to be up to date prior to your hunting safari: Accidental Death & Disability, Loss of Personal Effects, Emergency Evacuation, Medical Insurance and Cancelation Insurance.
Security Deposit ($): $22250
Details about the security deposit :
A deposit of 50% of the safari rate is required to confirm the booking. The game trophy fees and all government royalties charged would those be applicable to the year the safari is taken, regardless of what was quoted in the initial contract.
