Enjoy a Cape buffalo hunt in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, a paradise for game hunting enthusiasts with its beautiful weather, stunning trophies, and exquisite hunting opportunities! The hunt includes a hard bossed Cape Buffalo Buffalo < 39 inches, over 12 years of age.
Upon arrival in South Africa at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met by Johann, or a representative of the company who will assist with any firearm clearance and transfer to your accommodation for the evening.
The road transfer from Johannesburg to the Buffalo hunting grounds will take approximately 5 ½ hours, during which time you will experience the diverse range of landscapes from the high veld in Gauteng as you leave Johannesburg, to the lush, greener areas of KwaZulu-Natal.
One of South Africa’s nine provinces, KwaZulu-Natal is situated on the country’s southeast coast, along the warm Indian Ocean. The province features a variety of hunting landscapes, from savannas and grasslands to dense bushveld and even mountainous regions, as it is home to the famous Drakensberg Mountain range.
It is home to the Big 5, African plains game, as well as specialty game and antelopes, making it the perfect hunting ground for a hunter wanting to pursue a dangerous game hunting adventure, with varied options available as add-ons to the safari. This includes prime hunting species such as Nyala, Kudu, Blue Wildebeest, Red Duiker, Impala, Warthog, and Bushbuck.
The hunting lodge consists of six deluxe chalets, well-equipped for international guests, with an African theme noticeable throughout. Enjoy a restful slumber surrounded by nature, and wake up refreshed, ready for the day’s buffalo hunting!
After a “another tough day in Africa” enjoy a relaxing swim before heading to the Lapa areas to enjoy sun-downers and dinner. On that note, the resident chef is on call to create delicious dishes incorporating only the freshest ingredients and sublime flavors.
You cannot, of course, expect to leave South Africa without enjoying a traditional braai (BBQ) in all its splendor. South Africans will tell you that a braai is not just about the food, but together with the tales of “those that got away”, the friendships fostered, and bonds are formed. We’d love to help you experience all that, and more.
When one thinks of Big 5 hunting in Africa, the Cape buffalo is a natural choice for those hunters wanting a challenging yet rewarding hunting experience. As a premier African hunting destination, South Africa boasts an array of game species, exceptional trophies, and unparalleled hunting grounds, all culminating in an unforgettable African hunt!
The hunt commences on 30,000 acres of prime hunting grounds in the northeastern part of the KwaZulu-Natal, where landscapes include thick grasslands and foliage that provides excellent cover for both man and beast. Learn from the best as you watch Zulu trackers in action, carefully tracking and stalking your Buffalo. These skilled trackers have the inert ability to spot, track, and stalk wildlife while their understanding of animal behavior is paramount to any African hunting safari. The terrain of dense bush-veld makes this the perfect Buffalo hunting terrain.
This hunt features exceptional trophy Cape bulls. If an aggressive and unpredictable big five hunt is what you are after, this is the hunt for you.

To apply for a temporary import permit for sport hunting a SAPS 520 form will need to be completed. You will need to provide copy passports, copy airline tickets, letter of invitation from Johann and proof of ownership (Firearm License or Customs declaration form 4457 for US citizens).
The temporary import permit allows for hunters to bring a maximum of four rifles, with neither two being the same caliber. No more than 200 rounds of ammunition per caliber.
South Africa is not regulated with regards to plains game hunting season, as ranch owners can apply for a P3 Exception permit, allowing game hunting safaris to take place throughout the year. The cooler months, which run from April to October, are preferred when hunting. In summer, the temperatures are high and can exceed 104 Fahrenheit.
KwaZulu-Natal is a diverse tourist destination for non-hunting activities, offering a wide variety of wildlife safaris, cultural experiences and coastal attractions, making the province a popular tourist destination for international travelers.
