Namibia is a politically stable country; hunters are always welcome and Namibia is one of the safest countries in Africa. Namibia is easily accessed via flights from Europe to Windhoek (Hosea Kutako International Airport), or as many hunters prefer, traveling through South Africa to Windhoek from Oliver Tambo International Airport.
Importing a rifle in Namibia is a simple process, with permits being issued on arrival at Hosea Kutako, at no cost. Hunters will just need a copy of the firearm license, for USA citizens a customs declaration form 4457 and a copy of a letter of invitation from the outfitter. Namibia offers a wide variety of habitat for plains game hunting, from the Kalahari Desert in the South, the Caprivi Strip (Zambezi Region) and rugged mountains on the western borders of the Namibia.
Namibia is in fact four times larger than the United Kingdom and bigger than the state of Texas in the United States. Namibia’s population of 2.2 million people make the country one of the least inhabited in Africa.
Hunting Season in Namibia: Trophy hunting in Namibia takes place from 1st February to 30th November. Hunting is allowed to commence a half an hour before sunrise and and half an hour after sunset.

This unique piece of paradise boasts wild plains, rough and rocky mountains, offering more than 20 different species of African game animals, birds and African Cats, including Leopards.
This family-owned ranch stretches more than 100 000 acres, greater than 160 square miles, situated in the Khomas region of central Namibia. There are no high-fences on the ranch. Jaco and the team pride themselves on providing quality family safaris, also offering guided tours to Etosha National Park and photographic safaris to other places of interest. In 2002, Jaco became Namibia’s national archery champion and in 2025 represented Namibia at World Archery Championship in the USA.
Landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you will be met by Jaco, or a member of his team for “meet and greet” and any assistance with rifle collection or permits. Transfers to and from Windhoek will be by road, taking approximately two hours. Namibia has the safest and best maintained roads in all of Africa. The hunting lodge, situated in the Khomas region is located approximately 100 miles south of the capital city.
Should international hunters be entering Windhoek from South Africa, depending on flight times, it may be a requirement to spend a night in Johannesburg, South Africa. Airlink is recommended for the flight from Oliver Tambo International Airport to Windhoek, which cost on average (+- US$ 400 return). Airlink flights are on time, clean, plus as a bonus they serve “adult beverages”. Airlink also have facilities in place for rifles transfers.
We would recommend African Sky Boutique Hotel situated near OR Tambo Airport if you have to overnight in Johannesburg. Management can arrange transfers to and from African Sky/OR Tambo and also assist with any firearm permits. For further information, see our “Affiliated Services“ link below. Hunters need to bear in mind that if traveling with firearms through South Africa, a SAPS 520 form needs to be completed.

Namibia, typically classified as a “desert country”, has days where the temperatures are hot and the night are cool, and in the winter months cold.
The northwest winds bring rainfall in the summer months which are the months from October through to April, which are also the countries hottest months. Rainfall in the unique biosphere of the northeast (Caprivi Strip, now known as Zambezi Region), is much higher than the rest of the country.
Central Namibia is referred to as “blue sky” country with more than 10 hours of sunshine per day. The best hunting months are from April through to August.
Protective clothing should be manufactured in from light cotton fabric, with colors matching the environment, such as olive, khaki and greens.
Temperatures, depending on the month of the hunt can vary by as much as 35 Fahrenheit, so jackets providing warmth and insulation are important, as well as gloves and “woolly hats”. While a four-by-four truck may be used to cover greater distances as the ranch is just so large. Departure and arrivals times may be in the early/late hours when temperatures are cool.
Pack a good quality and comfortable pair of walking boots, extra laces are always a good idea. Do not over pack as the lodge does provide daily laundry services.
