Known for its diverse landscapes, the region is home to a wide range of plains game species, including Kudu, Gemsbok, Springbok, and Impala. The Eastern Cape’s combination of rugged mountains, open savannah, and lush river valleys creates the perfect environment for both challenging hunts and scenic adventures. With professional guides, like Kevin and his team, and well-managed conservation areas, hunters can enjoy a memorable experience while pursuing high-quality trophies in one of South Africa’s most beautiful regions.
International travelers can commence this hunting adventure by arriving in either Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, or Cape Town International (CPT). From either entry points into South Africa, you will need to take a domestic flight of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, arriving in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). For these domestic flights we would recommend flying with Air-Link, their flights are on time and affordable. Return domestic flights will cost on average US$ 200, depending on the season.
Upon arrival in Port Elizabeth, you will be met by your outfitter, Kevin or a member of the team. A scenic 2-hour drive to the hunting lodge camp follows, with breathtaking views of the Eastern Cape’s diverse landscapes.
You will be staying in a charming wooden lodge tucked near the farmhouse, perfectly situated offering panoramic views of the hunting grounds. The lodge features three tastefully designed twin rooms, each with its own private bathroom. Shared areas feature a cackling fireplace for cool evenings, plush couches that invite relaxation, and a dining area where delicious, home-cooked meals are served.
In the evening, cold beverages will be shared at the spacious outdoor fire pit. A decked pool beside the lodge, offers a tranquil area to unwind and soak in the serene surroundings.

Non-hunters are more than welcome to join the adventure. The hunting area is ideally located for combining your hunting trip with a holiday. Nearby, you’ll find renowned Big Five game reserves, fascinating historical sites, beautiful beaches, and scenic golf courses. Gqeberha is also the perfect starting point for exploring the Garden Route with its stunning scenery, exciting tourist activities and nostalgic little towns that dot this area in South Africa. The Eastern Cape boasts a pleasant, malaria-free climate, making it an excellent destination for families, while the area’s golden beaches provide the perfect getaway for a sundrenched holiday. We encourage non-hunters to accompany the hunt and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area, along with the array of available activities.
Kudu, often called the “Gray Ghost,” is one of the most iconic animals to hunt in South Africa. These majestic creatures are known for their incredible ability to blend into the bush, making them a challenging target.
Springbuck, known for their grace and speed, is a favorite among hunters seeking an exciting challenge. Found in open grasslands, Springbuck often require long-range shots due to their wariness.
A Blesbok is another fast and wary plains game antelope. Blesbok prefer open, slightly arid plains with access to water and are often found in areas with short to medium grasses. They are generally calm and grazing throughout the day, but when threatened, they will flee in a straight line at high speed.
The Mountain Reedbuck, as its name suggests, inhabits the rocky, elevated regions of Port Elizabeth. Hunting this species potentially involves long hikes and climbing steep terrain. The Reedbuck’s sharp eyesight and keen hearing make it difficult to approach without being noticed.
Duiker and the Steenbok are both small, shy antelope found in a variety of habitats, including savannas, grasslands, and shrublands, primarily across southern and eastern Africa. They prefer areas with
dense vegetation, such as tall grasses or scattered bushes, which offer cover from predators. They are generally solitary or found in pairs and are crepuscular, being most active during the early morning and late evening. They are cautious and rely on their ability to freeze and remain still when threatened.
Impala is known for its beauty, agility, and abundance. Found in both open plains and dense bushveld, Impala have quick reflexes.

South Africa is not regulated with regards to a specific hunting season and Plains Game Hunts can take place throughout the all year. The cooler months, which run from April to October are preferred. In summer, the temperatures are just to high. The drier months see the grasses being shorter in the veld, and the bush veld not as dense, both of which allows hunters to more easily spot their prey.
The months of November through to February are also the rainy season. Rain showers and bad weather can continue for days in the hotter months.
