Like with most large antelope and hunts for spiral horn antelope, there really are a few options which can be considered. Large antelope, such as Kudu and Cape Eland need something with a little more “punch” than smaller calibers such as .243 or .270. While the smaller calibers can get the job done, understanding shot placement on large antelope is crucial. As ethical hunters, we want to ensure that antelope are hunted following humane practices.
When hunting in Africa, we would recommend any thirty-caliber shooting a flat trajectory, such as 30.06 or a 300 Win Mag. Thirty caliber rifles work well when hunting large antelope.
Your professional hunter will recommend you taking the broadside shot into the vital organs. The heart and lungs present and a well-placed bullet into this area will be fatal. Head shots are to be avoided as this will be a sure way to ruin the trophy.
The camp is set in the shade of a riverine forest overlooking a busy waterhole with a swimming pool and a comfortable “Meru Style ensuite tents.”

Hunting in Zimbabwe, Seasons
The best time for game hunting in Zimbabwe is during the dry season, when the grounds are drier, and temperatures are lower, running from April to August.
Summer months can be incredibly hot with high levels of humidity.
This outfitter also offers Game Fishing Charters off the East Coast of Africa which is an activity for everyone to enjoy. If time is not an immediate concern following the hunt, we suggest the safari be extended to include angling for Marlin, Sail Fish and a wide variety of deep-sea game fish aboard Virpra One, a Luhrs 342 Tournament. Having personally fished these waters, we can vouch for the quality of game fish.
