Hunting methods while on the Africa Hunting Trip

This hunt is in typical African safari style where a truck will be made use of to move around and locate animals.  The hunting grounds in the Limpopo Province are a combination of hilly, mountainous and open grass land areas.

You will see a variety of plains game antelope during the day, but you can rest assured that this hunt will be a challenge.

Hunters can also follow the “ambush method” of plains game hunting by camouflaging themselves along frequently used game trails. This is exciting as you will have no idea what antelope or other critters will pass by.

Hunting Lodges in South Africa, the safari specifics

This hunting lodge offers you Africa in a unique way. You will unwind and relax in the African bushveld. Accommodations at the hunting lodge are elegant rondaval (round houses) and are furnished in African style safari tents, all with en-suite bathrooms.

The lodge boasts a super camp area with roaring fires and a swimming pool. Meals will follow traditional African themes, homemade and delicious.

The African Outfitter

This outfitter operates in a few territories, including South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Not only does this top-rated outfitter specialize in plains game hunts in SA, but also conducts numerous dangerous game hunting safaris for Cape Buffalo. Buffalo hunted in this area of South Africa have been taken at over 45 inches (Tip to Tip on the span).

Additionally, they also offer dedicated Elephant hunting in Zimbabwe, and combination hunts for plains game and Cheetah hunting in Namibia. Namibia is also a popular destination for hunting Brown Hyena.

Transfer to and from the Hunting Concession

Your hunting adventure will start following arrival at Oliver Tambo International Airport. You will be met by the safari outfitter and transferred to the hunting lodge. The transfer will be an approximately three-hour drive on national tar roads of which all are in a good state of repair.

Best time for an Africa hunting Trip

South Africa is not regulated by legislation in terms of a specific hunting season. Plains game hunts take place all year around. The best time to hunt in South Africa will be during the cooler months, from April until October. Hotter temperatures and seasons of rainfall increase the risk of heat stroke and bring out all the pests such as pepper ticks.

Plan Your Hunting Adventure Limpopo NOW!

The call of the Limpopo is a call to adventure, to challenge, and to the thrill of the hunt. It is an opportunity to step into a world where the wild is still wild. You can test your skills against some of Africa’s most magnificent antelope.

Rifles, Rounds and Ammunition when Plains Game hunting in South Africa

A good choice of rifle would be any thirty-calibre rifle shooting good quality expanding tips. A good choice would be a bullet weighing 165 or 180 grain. Thirty calibre rifles such as a 300 Win Mag are also well known for shooting a flat trajectory, which is perfect for any “long shots”

When Blue Wildebeest hunting, know that these animals are exceptionally tough. Blue Wildebeest are known as the property agents of Africa. A wounded Blue Wildebeest will show the hunter the entire property.

Do not underestimate the Warthog. These hogs are exceptionally tough. On a recent safari in Limpopo, we shot a hog a little low, missed the vitals and the Warthog ran for miles leaving a trail of intestines.

Shot placement is critical to ensure that ethical hunting practices are followed.

Nothing like a plains game hunting safari in South Africa and this hunting package is highly recommended.
