To make this Elephant cancellation hunt so much more attractive is the fact that the Trophy Elephant is fully exportable. US hunters and residents may apply to have the Elephant trophy imported into the country and companies such as Conservation Force will gladly assist with the paperwork.
The trophy fee included in this cancellation hunt is for a bull Elephant, 30lbs to 50lbs. The hunt is available to be enjoyed at this price until the end of April 2025.

This hunting safari is more than an extraordinary experience and hunt, but it is a chance to make a real difference. A portion of income from the hunting safari supports the ASA Foundation (Adopt Schools in Africa), funding education and development of local communities, contributing to a brighter future in Zimbabwe.
The Matetsi ECA area in Zimbabwe is one of the largest game hunting complexes and covers an area of more than 50 000 acres, 250 square miles. The Matetsi Extended Conservation Area (ECA) is was formed by merging several game ranches that were open and unfenced to each other, creating a larger safari hunting area beyond the boundaries of the original Matetsi Units.
The Matetsi was named after the Matetsi River (named for the blue-green algae found on the rocks) which flows through the southern hunting area. Concessions in this area are famous for Big Five hunts and are also well known for the large populations of Sable.
The Flora is characterized by diverse trees like the Albida which provides food for plains game animals such as Giraffe, Kudu, Impala, Zebra, and other herbivores. Topography is 60% plains and 20% rolling hills.
The nearest airport to the hunting lodge, named the River Range Camp is the Victoria Falls International Airport. When booking this Elephant hunt, it is well worth adding a day or two before or after the hunting safari to visit the iconic Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
The Falls are magnificent with many tourist activities including (but not limited to): Helicopter flips over the mighty Zambezi River, river rafting, and late afternoon cruises sipping a cold beer or cocktail.
Victoria Falls International can be reached by flying directly to OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa. Airlink is a preferred airline, affordable and on time and the flight takes two hours. This African regional flight (return) will cost between US$ 280 and US$ 450 depending on the season. Road transfers from the airport to the River Range camp will take approximately 30 minutes.
While there is no specific Elephant hunting season and safaris can be conducted all year round, the cooler and drier months from early April to late October are preferred.
In the warmer and wetter months, insect activity increases, such as pepper ticks which can make the consequences of walking through the brush unpleasant.
But, with that been said, when it comes to hunting Elephant in Zimbabwe, there is no “bad” time to go. The Matetsi area just has so many quality bull Elephants.
Is Matetsi a Malaria area? Yes, these hunting concessions are Malaria areas, and the hunter needs to take anti-malarial medication before commencement of the Elephant hunt. Your local physician can be consulted in this regard.

Independent brick lodges each have ensuite bathrooms, safes, outdoor showers, electricity, and a fridge. At River Range, you will bask in the glow of the endless stars around the bonfire and listen to the roars of Lions at daybreak.
Your day will start with your professional hunter waking you just before sunrise and thereafter enjoying a light breakfast discussing the day’s strategy. You will then head out to waterholes and find a good track, whereafter the hunt will commence following traditional Elephant hunting methods, namely on foot. The hunting scouts will be familiar with bull Elephants seasonally traversing the hunting concession.
Depending on the PH’s agenda and strategy, you will either go back to camp for a light brunch, or take a light meal in the field, thereafter you will take up the tracks again.
At sunset, you will head back to the hunting lodge for dinner and a few well-deserved cold beverages.
Africa’s largest land mammal will be sure to provide a world class dangerous game hunting safari. Shots will most likely be taken at close range and in thick brush, at distances of between 15 and 50 feet. For hunters new to Elephant hunting, take the time out to review and study Dangerous Game Shot Placement
Rule number one on an Elephant hunt is to use the largest caliber rifle with which you can be shoot accurately and comfortably. The bullet needs to be capable of penetrating thick, strong, and dense bone. A poor shot, in an instant can lead to multiple fatalities. Up close and personal, penetrating a large herd and identifying your trophy bull is what Elephant hunting is all about.
At close range, your professional hunter will recommend the frontal brain shot, or the brain shot from the side. Elephant shot placement ss all about adjusting the target area when considering the angle between the hunter and the Elephant with the goal of penetrating the brain which sits deep in the back of the scull. A successful first shot will see the Elephant’s hind quarters immediately collapsing. A second and third follow up shot will be taken immediately after the first.
Since you will be in one of Africa’s hunting Meca’s, know that the Matetsi area offers some of the finest Cape Buffalo hunting on the planet. The area (as we see on social media all the time), produces top quality Cape Buffalo trophies, with loads of character and attitude.
