Hunting a Brown Hyena at night is a thrilling test of skill and nerve that will push the hunter to their limits. The darkness will amplify the requiring you to rely on your instincts and senses like never before.
Tracking and spotting Brown Hyena and the other nighttime critters, the Honey Badger, Bushpig and Civet Cat in the pitch-black wilderness will be the hunter’s ultimate challenge. The nocturnal hunt will demand patience, precision, and a deep understanding of animal behaviour, along with the ability to stay awake and alert.
The hunting concession is a privately owned reserve of more than ten thousand acre’s, situated in the Waterberg biosphere in Limpopo Province, the hunting “Meca” of South Africa.
The Nocturnal Hunting Safari
Hunting these illusive nocturnal species will require a variety of techniques. Bushpig hunting will be done by pre-baiting an area. Once the bait has been hit, it will be “game on” from the blind.
Brown Hyena hunting will also take place using the baiting method. Areas will be “dragged” with fresh baits from antelope hunts, and FoxPro callers will be made use of. Baits for the Civet and Honey Badger, also known by the name “Ratel” will be placed in strategic areas which the hunter and professional hunter will patrol. Artificial lighting will be used to spot these night time predators.
Unlike Spotted Hyena, Brown Hyena do not call, laugh, and giggle. The enter the hunting grounds like a thief in the night.
Advanced Nocturnal Hunting Technology

Transfer to and from the Hunting Concession
Your adventure will start when you land at Oliver Tambo International Airport. You will be met by the safari outfitter and transferred to the lodge.
The transfer will be a three-hour drive on national tar roads. Be sure to ask the outfitter to make a stop at the famous Vaalwater Hotel for an ice-cold beverage, or two!!
Accommodation on the Nocturnal Hunting Safari.
Enjoy all the luxuries Africa has to offer. The hunting lodge is breathtakingly beautiful and fit for royalty. The hunting lodge has been developed to cater for the true nature lover. Meals will follow traditional African themes, homemade and delicious.
Situated near the Makolo Dam, some freshwater fishing for Tilapia, Karp and Large Mouthed Black Bass can also be arranged.
Safari Hunting Season
As South Africa is not regulated by a specific hunting season, Hyena hunts can take place all year around. The best time to hunt in South Africa will be during the cooler months, from April until October.

Client's cancelling 60 days before the hunt will receive a full refund. Deposits are non-refundable if the client cancels less than 60 days before the hunt. However, the hunt can be rescheduled. Security Deposit ($): $3700

The balance of this package together with any other charges incurred or trophy fees for additional animals hunted or wounded will be due and payable at the end of the safari in US cash, Credit Cards (Visa & Mastercard), or by EFT.
