The Game Hunting Terrain in the Eastern Cape

This concession covering an area of more than three million acres and consists of a various habitats. Hunting grounds will incorporate dense coastal brush, semi-arid desert, open savannah, and valleys in the Winterberg Mountain range which reaches heights of more than 7000 feet.

Rifles and Ammunitions on a Plains Game Hunt

The Eastern Cape will continually present the hunter with numerous challenges based on the diverse habitat occupied by these illusive antelope.

Shots could vary from as little as sixty yards to over two hundred and fifty yards. Sometimes even further.

Any rifle shooting a flat trajectory such as a 30.06, 7mm or 300-Win Mag would be recommended. Only use excellent quality expanding ammunition with a weight of at least 165 grains.

Perfecting shot placement when plains game hunting is going to be critical. When hunting in the Eastern Cape in such diverse habitat, antelope do not always present a perfect “broad side” shot. A understanding of the antelopes anatomy is required to ensure a quick, ethical and humane death.

Travel arrangements for the African Hunt

Hunters can enter South Africa via either Oliver Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) or flying into Cape Town International Airport. From both these points of entry, a domestic flight will need to be taken to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). The domestic flight time is approximately 1,5 to 2 hours. These flights are most pleasant and affordable, and airlines are used to transporting firearms. Airlink for the inland domestic flight is recommended.

If time permits, we suggest extending the hunting safari to include an escape to further explore areas of the  Eastern and Western Cape.

These tourist destinations of South Africa are incredible and always favourite destinations when visiting South Africa.
