Shots could vary from as little as sixty yards to over three hundred yards. A rifle shooting a flat trajectory such as a .270, 30.06, 7mm or 300-Win Mag would be recommended. Only use excellent quality expanding ammunition with a weight of at least 165 grains. Shot placement is going to be crucial. When hunting in these conditions, antelope do not always present a perfect “broad side” shot, so a good understanding of the quarry’s anatomy is required to ensure a quick, ethical and humane death.
Tracking a wounded Blue Wildebeest is hard work. Not only is a Blue Wildebeest dangerous, but also extremely tough. A Blue Wildebeest is also known as the “Property Agent” of the bush as a wounded Wildebeest will show you the entire concession.
