hyena

This is your chance to add some incredibly unique and sought-after animals to your trophy room.

Quota is limited !!

Spotted Hyena Hunting  is one of the most thrilling and adrenaline hunts offered by African outfitters. A night hunt for a hyena is similar to that of a Leopard hunt, but at a much more affordable rate.

If you have never experienced a night hunt in Africa, this is your chance. After the sun sets, an entirely new world opens with predators emerging from their hideaways ready to cause mayhem and panic.

Hearing the words “Hyena hunting” automatically creates a feeling of intrigue. Hyena have a history of attacking sleeping people with their powerful bone crunching jaws.

There is nothing quite like hearing their spine-chilling hysterical laughter in the night as the “Laughing Hyena” call across the landscape. It is a moment that will never be forgotten.

Many perceive Hyenas as scavengers, but in fact these predators are excellent hunters in their own right.

Hunting Hyena, like with Leopard and Lion hunts requires patience and commitment. Harvesting a trophy Hyena in Africa is a remarkable achievement.

Bushpig Hunting and Other Night Critters

As with hunting hyenas, a bushpig hunt is an incredibly unique hunt. Your heart pounds through your chest when you hear the sound of the hogs running in onto the bait. The bushveld goes from silence in the dark to mayhem and chaos in a few seconds.

Jackals are remarkably similar to Coyote, but nearer in size to a fox. These critters are most cunning and opportunistic. Civet Cats and Genets make great full mount trophies and are formidable to hunt.

Your Outfitter on the Hunting Safari

Specializing in not only African plains game, but Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Cape Buffalo hunts, Chris and her utfitter and her well-trained team of professional hunters and support staff know how to deliver a dream African safari.

Bird hunts for Ducks, Francolin, Geese, Pigeons and Doves are also available.

The Hyena Hunting Territory

The Save Valley conservancy is situated in Zimbabwe’s South Eastern Lowveld and is considered by many hunters to be one of the finest free-range hunting areas on the African continent.

The concession is filled with rolling granite hills, open grasslands and forests of Teak and Mopane.

The Save River runs through the entire hunting concession and is filled with Hippo and Giant Crocodile.

Seasons and Weather when Hunting in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has no fixed hunting season. Hyena hunts are mostly conducted during the cooler months which run from late April to September. This period is also known as the “dry period,” as rainfall is less and brush “thinner, thus increasing visibility. The warmer months are just too hot, and the rainfall increases the numbers of insects, ticks and other unpleasant critters.

The hyena hunting lodge consists of luxury three-star comfortable tented camps, which all have on- suite bathrooms, showers and hot and cold running water making your safari an unforgettable hunting experience.

The lodge has a private chef who will spoil you with three meals a day, especially catered to your dietary preferences. Plains game backstrap grilled to perfection on the open flame is a delicacy to be remembered.

Travelling to the Save Valley

The point of entry for this African safari is arriving into the Capital city of Harare. If your international flight arrives after 13h00, overnighting in Harare will be needed as the ground transfer from the airport to the concession will take approximately five hours, depending on the condition of the roads and season.

Chris, or Shepard, one of the leading professional hunters in the team will meet you at the airport and will transfer you directly to the hunting grounds.

An alternative option, should you not be able to fly internationally to Harare, would be to fly directly to Oliver Tambo in South Africa, and then take a direct flight to Harare via Airlines such as Air Zimbabwe or Airlink.
