The Save Valley conservancy in Zimbabwe is one of the best big 5 hunting areas in Africa. With high population densities of African cats and predators, the concession is filled with Spotted Hyena and other nighttime critters.
This night time safari is going to be action packed from start to finish.

FYI, Brown Hyena can be hunted in Zimbabwe, but the trophy is not exportable to the USA. Spotted Hyena are considered by CITES as a species of “Least Concern” and is thus fully exportable.
The Save Valley conservancy is one of the largest private reserves in Zimbabwe. The reserve is owned and managed via a combination of private land owners, Government and communities. This Free-Range hunting area spans an area of more than 750 000 acres.
The area is a wildlife paradise, home to Africa’s Big Five, including both White and Black Rhino (which are not on license). Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Cape Buffalo are abundant and bumping into Africa’s Big 5 animals will be a regular occurrence during this hyena hunt. Numerous plains game inhabit the area and can be added to the safari.

The Save Valley conservancy is situated in Zimbabwe’s South Eastern Lowveld and is considered by many hunters to be one of the finest free-range hunting areas on the African continent.
The concession is filled with rolling granite hills, open grasslands and forests of Teak and Mopane.
The Save River runs through the entire hunting concession and is filled with Hippo and Giant Crocodile.
Zimbabwe has no fixed hunting season. Hyena hunts are mostly conducted during the cooler months which run from late April to September. This period is also known as the “dry period,” as rainfall is less and brush “thinner, thus increasing visibility. The warmer months are just too hot, and the rainfall increases the numbers of insects, ticks and other unpleasant critters.
Not Included in the Safari Hunting Costs

The point of entry for this African safari is arriving into the Capital city of Harare. If your international flight arrives after 13h00, overnighting in Harare will be needed as the ground transfer from the airport to the concession will take approximately five hours, depending on the condition of the roads and season.

An alternative option, should you not be able to fly internationally to Harare, would be to fly directly to Oliver Tambo in South Africa, and then take a direct flight to Harare via Airlines such as Air Zimbabwe or Airlink. The flight only takes approximately two hours and is most affordable and pleasant.
