Trophy hunting safaris in Namibia are some of the most enjoyable for international hunters choosing the African continent. Besides a variety of plains game, Namibia boasts ranches and concessions offering luxurious facilities and accommodation. Compared to countries such as Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania, these hunting safaris are very well priced.
Namibia is a politically stable country where international hunters are always welcomed, being one of the safest countries in Africa. Namibia is easily accessible via flights from Europe to Windhoek (Hosea Kutako International Airport), or as many hunters prefer, traveling through South Africa to Windhoek from Oliver Tambo International Airport.
Importing a rifle in Namibia is a simple process, with permits being issued on arrival at Hosea Kutako, at no cost. Hunters will just need a copy of the firearm license, for USA citizens a customs declaration form 4457 and a copy of a letter of invitation from the outfitter. Namibia offers a wide variety of habitat for plains game hunting, from the Kalahari Desert in the South, the Caprivi Strip (Zambezi Region) and rugged mountains on the western borders of the Namibia.
Namibia is four times larger than the United Kingdom and bigger than the state of Texas in the United States. Namibia’s population of 2.2 million people makes the country one of the least inhabited in Africa.
Jaco, owner and professional hunter welcomes all experienced, as well as novice hunters to enjoy the sheer magnificence that Namibia has to offer. This unique piece of paradise in Namibia boasts wild plains, rough and rocky mountains, offering more than 20 different species of African game animals, birds and African Cats, including Leopards.
This family-owned ranch stretches 100 000 acres, greater than 160 square miles, situated in the Khomas region of central Namibia. There are no high-fences on the ranch. Jaco and the team pride themselves on their family safaris, also offering guided tours to Etosha National Park and photographic safaris to other places of interest. In 2002, Jaco became Namibia’s national archery champion and in 2025 represented Namibia at World Archery Championship in the USA.
Hunting Season in Namibia: Trophy hunting takes place from 1st February to 30th November, with hunting allowed to take place. Hunting is allowed to commence a half an hour before sunrise and half an hour after sunset.
Landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you will be met by Jaco, or a member of his team for “meet and greet” and any assistance with rifle collection or permits. Transfers to and from Windhoek will be by road, taking approximately two hours. Namibia has the safest and best maintained roads in all of Africa. The hunting lodge, situated in the Khomas region is located approximately 100 miles south of the capital city.
Should international hunters be entering Windhoek from South Africa, depending on flight times, it may be a requirement to spend a night in Johannesburg, South Africa. Airlink is recommended for the flight from Oliver Tambo International Airport to Windhoek, which cost on average (+- US$ 400 return). Airlink flights are on time, clean, plus as a bonus they serve “adult beverages”. Airlink also have facilities in place for rifles transfers.
We would recommend African Sky Boutique Hotel situated near OR Tambo Airport if you have to overnight in Johannesburg. Management can arrange transfers to and from African Sky/OR Tambo and also assist with any firearm permits. For further information, see our “Affiliated Services“ link below. Hunters need to bear in mind that if traveling with firearms through South Africa, a SAPS 520 form needs to be completed.
Experience the warmth of true African hospitality at the hunting lodge, where modern luxury seamlessly blends with the timeless charm of traditional thatched roofs. Rooms are thoughtfully designed for your comfort, featuring a private bathroom, climate control, and daily laundry service. After a day of hunting, you can relax with a dip in the pool. Cuisine is exceptional, where hunters and companions can enjoy home-cooked meals or barbecue favorites, paired with some of South Africa’s (Imported) finest wines, local beers, and refreshing sodas.
*** The hunting lodge also features a micro-brewery where cold beers can be enjoyed following ” another tough day in Africa”
Embarking on a hunting safari in Namibia’s Khomas region promises an exciting adventure. The combination of rugged mountain landscapes and expansive plains presents both captivating challenges and rewarding experiences for every hunter.
Kudu are known for their impressive spiral horns and their ability to blend into the dense bush and rocky terrain. Spotting a Kudu before it spots you can be a real challenge. Patience and stealth are key. When you do get your shot, precise shot placement is crucial.
Gemsbuck are tough antelope, thriving in the conditions of the Khomas region and are known for their strength and endurance. Do not underestimate a Gemsbuck. Blue Wildebeest are built for stamina and can cover large distances quickly, especially in a herd, often making it tricky to single out a target. But, be patient, there is always one Wildebeest that will “make a mistake“.
The Hartmann’s Zebra is a true test of skill. Their striking stripes help them blend into the rocky, mountainous landscape, making them hard to spot. Their keen senses and quick reflexes make them a tough target. Navigating the uneven terrain requires careful movement and precise shot placement to ensure success.
Warthog, a favorite Hog on any African hunting safari. While Warthog typically roam the more open spaces, a trophy Warthog can literally, at the most unexpected time “pop” out from anywhere.
This exceptional destination has a diverse range of tourist activities and places of interest. Whilst in Namibia, it is worthwhile extending your stay.
Nature and Wildlife Safaris, places to visit:
Pay a visit to the vibrant towns of Windhoek and Swakopmund, or go on a 4 x 4 tour through the desert, visit the hot springs, dune bashing, Whale watching, Camel riding or catamaran trips. Namibia is an exceptional destination for tourists.
Following a recent Elephant hunt in Namibia, we (GHS) rented a truck and drove from Windhoek, to Henties Baai, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. It was worth every penny, the food, drinks and facilities were exceptional.
