In Niassa, there are not any fences or borders, and this outfitter has access to more than 3 million acres of hunting rights. The terrain is a mixture of Miombo woodlands, river forests, open grasslands and floodplains.
Niassa is also home to thousands of Elephant so bumping into these animals will most probably be a daily occurrence.
Cape Buffalo hunting will be on foot, following fresh tracks in the wilderness. Hunting in Africa does not get better than this. This is Buffalo hunting at its best. This is not taking a three hundred yard shot over an open grassland.
The Leopard will be hunted by baiting areas throughout the concession in search of these illusive cats. Once the bait has “been hit” and the size of the tracks confirmed to be that of a big male, temporary blinds will be constructed and the hunt for this will begin. Patience will be required.
Shot placement on this hunt is going to be critical. A wounded Cape Buffalo or Leopard are probably the most dangerous big animals in Africa.
Niassa also boasts healthy populations African plains game and includes animals such as the Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest, Zebra (Bhoem’s), Livingstone Eland. Sable, Kudu, Nyala, Waterbuck, Bushbuck (Chobe) and tiny ten members, Duiker (red/blue and Grey), Sharpes Grysbok and the infamous Niassa Wildebeest are also available. All these antelope can be added to the hunting safari for an additional trophy fee.
Travelling to Hunting Grounds
You will fly into OR Tambo international airport in South Africa and then take an airlink flight to Phemba, Mozambique. This flight is approximately two hours in duration. On arrival at Phemba you will then take a charter flight (to be arranged with your African outfitter) that will take you directly to the hunting lodge. The hunting areas are rugged and road transport to camp is near impossible. The return charter cost will be approximately $5000 (subject to change), but this can be less if there are any hunters sharing. Please note that the charter would need to be booked at least 2 months in advance and must be paid in cash on the day of your flight or pre-paid by transfer.
Each of the camps has luxury safari tents with bathroom and toilet ensuite, and hot and cold running water 24/7. All camps have their own solar systems or generators for power supplies as well as high speed satellite internet and all other necessities required to make for a comfortable stay.
Daily laundry service is of course offered and included. Each camp is complete with an iridium satellite phone in case of an emergency. We encourage clients to hire a phone prior to the safari if they wish to be able to call home on the hunt. Some camps have regular cell network and data capabilities if you wish to bring your mobile phone.
Spotted Hyena Hunting in Mozambique is also a favourite nocturnal hunt as Spotted Hyena share their territories with Lions and Leopard. Other nighttime critters such as Porcupine and Bushpigs can also be included in this hunting safari.
Please note that terms, conditions and price are subject to change without notice and rates at the time of the hunt will apply
