Get ready for the ultimate hunting safari experience with Ruan and his team of professionals. The journey to a plains game hunt in Namibia begins once you book your flight. Stepping off the plane, Namibia will greet you with warmth and a “buzz” that will get your adrenaline pumping.
Namibia is alive with natural beauty and cultural richness, offering a journey through stunning landscapes that will leave you in awe, with an air of excitement building as you edge ever closer to your dangerous game hunting safari.
Starting from bustling city of Windhoek, where modern meets colonial charm, you’ll quickly leave the city behind. Picture Africa’s plains dotted with Acacia trees under endless skies.
As you venture further, rugged mountains rise up, contrasting sharply with the flat savannahs below. You will spot a variety of African plains game, from serene herds of Springbok grazing, majestic Oryx (Gemsbok) standing tall against desert backdrops, and maybe even a lone Mountain Zebra navigating rocky terrain with grace.
Arriving at the hunting lodge in the Kunene region, ancient riverbeds and dry channels hint at hidden water sources that sustain a rich array of wildlife. The scenery is varied, with granite hills and lush valleys setting the stage for an exciting hunting adventure.
You will be warmly greeted by Ruan and the team, whose love for the land and its wildlife shines through in every detail.
Namibia’s hunting season runs from February to 30th November. The cooler months, namely March to the middle of October are the preferred plains game hunting months. Summer heat can reach extreme temperatures, which can not only make a safari unpleasant, but increases risk of dehydration.
In the warmer temperatures, be sure to stay hydrated. By the time you feel a “headache” starting, it is already too late. The only option is to drink as much fluid as possible (not beer or other alcoholic beverages, even though they may be appealing), and get rest.
Indulge in the ultimate hunter’s retreat at the lodges luxurious four-star accommodation. Nestled in the picturesque Kunene region, the camp will welcome you with sweeping views of granite hills and lush valleys, setting the stage for an unforgettable hunting expedition. Upon arrival, Ruan and team will ensure a warm reception as you settle into your tented sanctuary amid the serene hills of Kamanjab.
Each tent is thoughtfully furnished with two cozy single beds, ideal for father-son hunting partners, or easily converted into a double for couples seeking a shared outdoor experience. Families are catered to with a newly added unit designed for two adults and two children. Experience the comfort of warm showers powered by wood-fired boilers, while solar energy keeps your tent well-lit and devices charged, all with a minimal environmental footprint.
The entertainment tent offers a unique blend of relaxation and camaraderie, featuring a self-service bar surrounded by curious guineafowl, a cozy lounge area perfect for unwinding with an enjoyable book or engaging conversation, and a dining space where our chef prepares mouthwatering traditional meals. Adjacent, the “bush TV” area beckons, where evenings will be spent around the fire, swapping hunting tales and reliving the day’s adventures beneath the starry Namibian sky—a setting that creates memories to cherish forever.
Whether you are a seasoned outdoorsman craving a close-to-nature experience or a more leisurely hunter who enjoys a touch of glamorous camping with modern comforts, the four-star luxury camp caters to all preferences. Whatever your hunting styles, we guarantee that your Africa Plains Game hunting adventure will be an unforgettable journey.
The kudu, often called the “grey ghost” due to its elusive nature and excellent camouflage, is one of the most prized trophies in African hunting. In the Kunene region, Kudu Hunting involves navigating rocky outcrops and dense bush. The kudu’s keen senses make it a challenging hunt, requiring patience and stealth. The reward of successfully hunting a trophy Kudu Bull will be immense, with its striking spiral horns being a testament to the hunter’s skill and perseverance.
Hunting the Mountain Zebra in Kunene’s mountainous terrain is a test of endurance and agility. These zebras are adapted to rugged terrain, making them difficult to stalk. Their acute hearing and vision add to the challenge. However, the reward lies in the beauty of their pelts, which are distinctively striped and highly sought after.
Gemsbok, also known as Oryx, are well adapted to the arid conditions of Namibia. These majestic animals are known for their long, straight horns and striking appearance. Hunting Gemsbok could involve long hours of tracking across open plains. Their ability to detect danger from afar makes close encounters rare.
Springbok, also known as Springbuck, are smaller species of plains game that offer unique challenges for hunters. Their remarkable speed and agility make them elusive targets. Hunting springbok in Namibia often demands precision and accuracy in long-range shooting. Successfully bagging a Springbok not only rewards with the trophy, but also instills a sense of accomplishment in mastering the skills required to outwit these swift antelopes.
Hunting plains game in Namibia’s Kunene region is a rewarding experience that requires thorough preparation and resilience. The challenges posed by the environment and the wildlife are substantial, but the sense of accomplishment and the memories created will be priceless.
