Kudu Hunting in Zimbabwe

Kudu are often referred to as being the equivalent of “Africa’s Elk”, or also famously known as “The Grey Ghost”. This spiral horn antelope is one of the species that is normally at the top of any hunters African “Bucket List”.

Kudu are found in most areas of Zimbabwe are sought after by hunters for their remarkable spiral horns, SCI minimum score is 121 using method 2.

Kudu prefer the hilly habitat and one of their favourite tricks to avoid hunters in to stand dead still.  No permits are required when Kudu hunting in Zimbabwe.

Eland Hunting in Zimbabwe

When hunting Eland in Zimbabwe, note that you will be hunting what is known as a Livingston or Patterson Eland. They have stripes compared to Cape Eland. A mature Bull will a tuft of dark brown/black hair growing down his forehead, often referred to as a “Kuif” by many Afrikaans Africans.

You will also note while on the Eland hunt that both males and females have horns, while the male, bigger in the body will also have a dewlap. No permits are required when Eland hunting in Zimbabwe.

Sable Hunting in Zimbabwe

This majestic large antelope is often referred to as “The Prince of Africa”. Sable have incredibly sharp horns with lightning-fast reflexes and can get quite aggressive.

Hunters need to be exceptionally careful when approaching this antelope as a Sable do an immense amount of damage. Spiral Horn Antelope: Hunting Methods

Following and early breakfast and coffee, you will leave camp and head off to the hunting grounds. As the concession is so large, a four-by-four truck will be used to cover more ground.

Ridges and valleys will be glassed and once a potential trophy has been spotted, you and your professional hunter will devise the plan on how to best stalk the antelope on foot. The best time for to hunt these spiral horn antelope will be on the early mornings and late afternoon.

Equipment when hunting plains game in Zimbabwe

Like with most large antelope species, there are a few options which can be considered. Kudu, Cape Eland and Sable need a larger caliber with a little more “punch” than smaller rifles such as .243 or .270.

As ethical hunters, we want to ensure that antelope are hunted following humane practises.

When hunting in Africa, we would recommend any thirty-calibre shooting a flat trajectory, such as 30.06 or a 300 Win Mag.

Your professional hunter will recommend you taking the broadside shot into the vital organs. The heart and lungs present a good size target and a well-placed bullet into this area will be fatal.

• Deposits on daily rates are non-refundable if the hunting safari is canceled less than 6 months before the arrival date - unless a replacement hunt is agreed. • If you are a no show, the Company shall be entitled to treat your reservation as cancelled without having given the Company any notice and the total safari cost will be forfeited. • Any request to vary your reservation must be in writing and the Company’s agreement thereto shall be at its sole discretion.

All pricing is quoted in US Dollars and can be subject to change. A 50% deposit of US $ 10000 will be required within 7 days of making the booking. The remaining balance of the safari is to be paid 90 days before arrival date. Full trophy fees, like on any other African hunts will be charged on animals shot, wounded, or lost.
