The Bate’s pigmy antelope, also known as the Bate’s dwarf antelope, is a small antelope found in Central and West Africa. It is known for inhabiting tropical forests in the central African forest rain block and thrives in habitats of secondary forests or areas with low-level vegetation, such as agricultural plantations.
They are known to enter plantations to feed on certain crops and enjoy a wide range of plant matter, such as leaves, shoots, buds, and roots.
Young are born throughout the year after a 6-month gestation, but there are two peak periods noted. Females give birth to a single fawn.
