You will be met at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport where Johan or a member of his team will assist with your firearm clearance and transfer to the evening’s accommodation.
Early the next morning, you will depart via road transfer to the hunting concession in Natal. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the stunning South African scenery as you head from the hustle and bustle of the urban jungle to the tranquil surroundings of the game hunting concession. The road transfer will take approximately 5½ hours.

Kudu also known as the “gray ghost” is one of Africa’s most sought after trophies. Kudu are well renowned for their excellent camouflaging skills. This elusive, sly antelope has exceptional senses. Bushbuck are a medium-sized antelope that will challenge your hunting skills. Bushbuck are one of the most difficult of the spiral horn antelope to hunt.
A Blue Wildebeest is often referred to as “the poor man’s buffalo” and is known for its absolute resilience and how tough it is to bring down on a game hunting safari! Shot placement is critical, a wounded Blue Wildebeest will show hunters the entire concession.
Warthog hunting in South Africa is something to be experienced to be believed! No plains game hunt in South Africa is complete with a trophy Warthog.
Impala are a beautiful medium-sized antelope with a striking set of horns, also a favorite to hunt on a African safari.
To apply for a temporary import permit for sport hunting a SAPS 520 form will need to be completed. You will need to provide copy passports, copy airline tickets, letter of invitation from Johann and proof of ownership (Firearm License or Customs declaration form 4457 for US citizens).
The temporary import permit allows for hunters to bring a maximum of four rifles, with neither two being the same caliber. No more than 200 rounds of ammunition per caliber.
South Africa is not regulated with regards to plains game hunting season, as ranch owners can apply for a P3 Exception permit, allowing hunting safaris to take place throughout the year. The cooler months, which run from April to October, are preferred when plains game hunting. In summer, the temperatures are high and can exceed 104 Fahrenheit.
