Specializing in dangerous and African plains game, their 380,000-acre concession in South Africa’s North West province boasts more than 45 species, including sought-after species such as the Cape buffalo, Cape eland, greater kudu, springbok, and both blue and black wildebeest, amongst others.
This stunning property is your home-away-from-home, with many creature comforts available, including a swimming pool, outdoor entertainment and lounge area, outdoor fireplace, braai area, indoor dining area, as well as a bar and TV area. Cell phone reception and WiFi is also available at the lodge.
With comfortable beds, warm showers in en-suite bathrooms, comfort is a given, but it’s the little extras that make it even more special, such as the room heaters, and electric blankets to ensure a warm night’s sleep when the temperatures drop during the cooler winter months.
The camp has both inside and outside dining options. Cuisine is top-notch, with hunters’ trophies often included in some mouthwatering game dishes. All meals and snacks are freshly prepared, be prepared for some delectable South African culinary delights.
Often referred to as “Africa’s gray ghost,” the Kudu is renowned for its excellent camouflage skills. This large antelope is most active in the morning and early evening, so time your hunt accordingly. Look for tracks around pans and water holes as they will never be far from water, and they drink regularly. In terms of shot placement on this large antelope, avoid head and neck shots if you are in search of the perfect trophy. Rather concentrate on a heart or lung shot.
The Kudu is one of the most sought-after African plains game trophy animals and any thirty caliber rifle will get the job done.
The Gemsbok is another sought-after trophy, with its majestic horns and beautiful coat making it the perfect addition to any trophy room. This large antelope is usually targeted through the walk-and-stalk method and found in open Savannah areas.
Often referred to as the “poor man’s buffalo,” the Wildebeest is an extremely challenging hunt. The best time of day to hunt the blue wildebeest is early in the morning or late afternoon as they graze, and when they are most active, especially if you plan on using the walk-and-stalk method. Another popular method is to build a blind overlooking the waterhole where they come to drink and target them from there.
This large antelope is renowned for its excellent senses, so come prepared for a challenging hunt that will take all the patience and perseverance the hunter has to offer. While the antelope can be seen on the plains and the hunt undertaken as a walk-and-stalk, the challenge is to get within shooting distance.
Once again, this is an antelope with very keen senses that makes it a challenge to stalk without detection. The walk-and-stalk method is the most common, with the best time to target this African plains game species being in the early morning or late afternoon when they are most active.
Hunting in the North West province is a sought-after activity for hunters, with the province consisting of flat areas, scattered trees, and grassland, just the perfect topography and habitat for plains game trophies.
While hunting in South Africa takes place throughout the year, the cooler and drier months are preferred, with the months from April to late October being the most popular. The drier months see the grasses being shorter in the veld, and the bushveld not as dense, both of which allows hunters to more easily spot their prey.Hunters will arrive in the Gauteng province, at Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport. Your hosts, or a member of their team will be there to meet you on arrival. The road transfer to the hunting lodge will take approximately 2.5 hours.
To import a firearm, you will need to complete a SAPS 520 form.
International hunters bringing their own rifles will need to provide copy passports, copy airline tickets, letter of invitation from Jacques, proof of ownership (Customs declaration form 4457 for US citizens).
