Makena is the outfitter on this epic spiral-horned hunt. Based in South Africa’s North West province, he is an experienced hunter, licensed PH, wildlife trader, and tour guide. Together with his team, this business offers exceptional safaris, including game hunting, wing shooting, and tourist safaris.
This outfitter’s safaris include African plains game, dangerous game, and specialty species. They also offer wing shooting and have various tourism packages available as add-ons after the hunt is complete.
Traveling to the North West Province
Hunters will arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. They will be met at the airport by Makena and his team, where a road transfer of about 5 hours will see the hunting party arrive at the hunting grounds. The cost of the transfer is not included in the package and is available at US$ 300 per person.
For hunters bringing rifles into South Africa must complete a SAPS 520 form upon arrival at the airport.
North West Hunting Grounds
The hunting grounds in the North West province depict the classic South African hunting environment. The region is characterized by open grassy plains, thorny shrubs, and trees, and is generally quite flat, apart from some scattered hills and rocky outcrops.
Hunting Lodge and Accomodation
Your hunting accommodation is near Zeerust, in the North West province’s Syferfontein region. This beautiful region was selected because of its proximity to the various concessions used during the plains game hunt.
The lodge on this safari sleeps up to 10 people in 5 rooms. Two rooms include en-suite bathrooms, while the remaining three share bathroom facilities. The lodge is fully equipped with running water and electricity and is supported by a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted comfort during power outages.
Hunters can sit back and relax, enjoy blissful evenings under African skies, where hearty meals and engaging conversations are the order of the day.
