Cape Buffalo Cow Hunting Method

This Buffalo hunt will be done on foot, following the traditional principles of fair chase. This is truly a dangerous game hunting safari. These Buffalo cows will be found “the thick stuff”, surrounded by other Buffalo in the herd, making this hunt even more dangerous.

Johan and his team of trackers will work hard to find your Buffalo.

Cape Buffalo cows are cunning and wise. Buffalo are known to avoid and outsmart hunters. A charging Buffalo is going to come at you like a freight train, at more than thirty-five miles an hour. A Buffalo Bull shows no emotion or behavior change before a charge.  Bring enough gun!! A Buffalo cow is no less dangerous to hunt. The world record Cape Buffalo is in fact a Cow!!

 The African Buffalo Hunt Excludes:

  • Trophy packing and transportation
  • Temporary rifle import/export permits, rifle and ammunition hire.

The flight is a short, pleasant trip that will take less than an hour, with the airlines of choice being either CemAir or Airlink. The return regional/domestic flight will cost approximately US$ 250.

Once you have landed at Hoedspruit Airport, your South African outfitter, who likes to be called “AH”  will meet you. The hunting concession will then be reached via a short road transfer. If you need to overnight in Johannesburg, the African Boutique Hotel is recommended conveniently situated near to the airport. Their staff can also assist with rifle permits and the airport transfers for the local flights. See “Affiliate Services” below.

The Limpopo Province: A Premier Dangerous Game Hunting Destination

One of South Africa’s nine provinces, the Limpopo province provides hunters with some of the best hunting on the African continent! Limpopo is home to an abundance of wildlife including African plains game and dangerous game hunting species, such as the Cape buffalo, also known as Africa’s Black Death.

While hunting is available throughout the year, the best time to enjoy a Cape buffalo hunt is during the dry season which runs from May to October. The grass is shorter, vegetation sparser, and the animals are more likely to congregate near or around the water holes, allowing the hunter many opportunities to target his prey.

The area allows for exciting and challenging walk-and-stalk hunting safaris, where hunters will have the opportunity to closely stalk these notorious beasts. And this is a doubly dangerous hunt, targeting a Cape Buffalo bull and cow!
