The Hunting Area in South Africa

This Lion hunt takes place in the Kalahari Desert, close to Tosca in the North West province, taking place on a fenced off 12 000 acre concession. Terrain is typical Kalahari bush-veld, lots of thickets and smaller open areas, perfect for hunting a Lion.

*** The area in Malaria Free

African Lion Status

Lion hunting in Africa was previously uplisted under the Endangered Species Act, by the US Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS) under pressure from community members  who advocate anti-hunting a.k.a “greenies”. Lions hunted in South Africa ” farmed Lions”  are not allowed to be imported into U.S.A., Australia, Netherlands and France.

What does this mean? Hunt your Lion now before politicians bend further  to anti-hunting groups. International big game hunters, who understand conservation all fully aware that Lions are not endangered due to strict hunting quota’s. It is our money that funds conservation and who will ensure the African Lion will never go extinct.  The USFWS is allowing the import of “Wild Lions and managed Lions” trophies from certain countries under application.

Tambo in Johannesburg, and meeting your outfitter, who enjoys being referred to as “AH”, you will commence with the road transfer will take you to the North West province, around 4 hour’s drive away. The drive will see you leave South Africa’s largest city. Traveling northwest you will see the transition in landscape from the urban city, to the natural landscapes, including mountains and grasslands.

Hunting South Africa’s North West Province

Hunting in the North West Province is a truly magnificent opportunity to experience African hunting at its best, but embarking on a dangerous game hunting trip targeting one of the Big 5 and Dangerous 7: Unforgettable!

The North West province is known for its diverse African plains game populations and is a popular destination for “farmed”  lion hunting trips. Do not let the words “captive, or farmed Lion” fool you! This trip ticks the boxes for a dangerous game hunt from start to finish, and the first roar of a nearby lion will have you checking your rifle and feeling that adrenaline kick in!

The landscape is more bushveld to the east while the west features drier, flatter terrain. From open grasslands and hilly areas to semi-desert regions, the North West province provides the perfect backdrop for a great spot and stalk lion hunt.

 Accommodation During Your Hunting Safari

Your accommodation for the 6 nights will be in a lodge boasting beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, home to many species of African game.

You can expect to enjoy African hospitality at its best, with mouthwatering cuisine being the order of the day, including local game harvested in the area. Enjoy comfortable beds, hot showers, and refreshing dips in the pool as you take a break from your lion hunt.

The Lion Hunting Safari in South Africa

The location for this dangerous game hunting safari is just outside Tosca, in the North West province. This is a captive-bred lion hunt, but don’t let this deter you: This apex predator is ready to rumble, and under the watchful eye of your experienced African outfitter, you can expect a challenging and exciting lion hunt!

The hunt will take the form of a spot and stalk on foot, offering hunters a real-like African safari and the eye-to-eye meeting of man versus beast. Keep your head in the game, stay alert, and be ready for anything, as a dangerous game hunting experience stalking a lion needs nerves of steel as it is tracked through the harsh bushveld. A decent level of fitness is required for the hunt.

The lion is a cunning, agile, and fierce apex predator; experience the thrill of tracking and stalking this African cat through the Kalahari!

Whether hunting a lion with a bow or rifle, remember your shot placement options  for this fearless king of the jungle.

A Typical Day Hunting Lions in South Africa

You can expect to wake up, before sunrise and begin the day with breakfast and coffee in the main hunting lodge. Thereafter, as the sun rises, you will  head out with the trackers and dangerous game professional hunters.

The hunting party commence by driving the roads looking for any sign of fresh lion tracks where the Lion may have crossed the night before. Since lions are nocturnal, and mostly prefer to hunt at night, they will then be most active. If the tracker spots a fresh set of tracks, that’s when the real Lion hunt will begins.

This hunt is all about tracking and stalking a Lion on foot, so be prepared. These Lions know when they are being tracked and will try to outmaneuver you, circle you. Lions are masters of blending in.

Once you get a visual on the Lion, you and your PH will find the best place to set up and take your shot from. Under pressure, these Lions have ” humor failure” and are quick to turn and charge. Don’t miss!!  It’s a heart-pounding and exciting hunt that puts you right up close and personal.
