Hunting in S.A. 's Limpopo Province

Limpopo is renowned as South Africa’s hunting mecca and is home to a diverse variety of African game species, including the notorious Cape buffalo. The area allows for year-round hunting adventures, with the best times to target these members of the Big 5 and Dangerous 7 being during the dry season, from May to October. While the vegetation and grass are not as long or dense, the dry season sees animals more likely to be gathered around watering holes, allowing an easier target for hunters.

From the famous Waterberg Mountain range and bush-veld areas to rolling hills and savannas, this pristine location is the perfect backdrop for a dangerous game hunting safari. What could be more enthralling than facing Africa’s Black Death in challenging terrain, where visibility at times is low, and all you hear is your own heartbeat pounding in your ears?

This hunting safari tests a hunter’s skills, patience, and courage as they face one of the most unpredictable and dangerous game species in Africa. Add to that a bad attitude, grumpy disposition, as well as a set of sharp horns, and you have a serious hunting challenge on your hands!

    The Hunting Lodge

Tucked away in the African bush-veld lies an oasis of luxury that you get to call home for 6 nights. Experience true African hospitality as your hosts welcome you on an unforgettable hunting adventure, with many creature comforts included to make your stay unforgettable.

Expect to be impressed, with both the location and the hunting lodge itself. Offering guests a reprieve from the hot, often dusty, African bush, your accommodation remains a welcome sight at the end of a long, challenging day. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool, before enjoying a drink or two alongside the fire, under a starry African sky.

From local delicacies to international fare, the chefs offer the best-of-the-best in terms of cuisine, using only the finest ingredients and freshest stock.

Embrace what Africa has to offer in this tranquil retreat, let the stress and adrenaline of the hunt wash away as you relax and enjoy a wonderful African welcome in the heart of a game hunting destination, where the mesmerizing calls of the wildlife at night will remain with you long after your African journey is completed.

    • Physically train for the Buffalo hunt as hunting will be on foot.

When is the best time to hunt Buffalo in South Africa?

South Africa is not regulated with regards to a specific hunting season and hunting can take place all year round as outfitters are in possession of a P3 Exemption Permit.  The cooler months, which run from April to October are preferred. In summer, the temperatures are just to high which can make hunting even more of a challenge. The months of November through to February are also the rainy season. Rain showers and bad weather can continue for days, literally placing a “damper” on the hunting safari.

    Rifle Imports and Permits

To import a firearm into South Africa for the purpose of Sport Hunting,  you will need to complete a SAPS 520 form. International hunters bringing their own rifles will need to provide copy passports, copy airline tickets, letter of invitation from “AH”  and  proof of ownership. (Customs declaration form 4457 for US citizens).

If any further information is needed requiring this hunt, contact our team at Game Hunting Safaris, or message “AH” directly using the quick message icons. If you wanting to check availability, insert the preferred dates and submit via “Request a Quote”.
