Big Game Hunting in Cameroon

Hunting in Africa is a bucket list activity for many international and US hunters, and to have the opportunity to hunt the Lord Derby Eland, Africa’s largest antelope, is a once-in-a-lifetime event!

On your Cameroon safari, you will hunt:

Additional Species available for Hunting

When it comes to sought-after game trophies, Cameroon ticks the boxes with a wide array of contenders. From the Lord Derby Eland, North Western Buffalo, and Western Roan, to Hartebeest, Hyena, and Bohor Reedbuck, the region is teeming with exceptional species!

Hunters must have a Group A hunting permit, which not only includes the Giant Eland, but also allows the hunting of another Group A species (either Western Roan or North Western buffalo) and FOUR species from Group B or C.

These include the Western Hartebeest, Harnessed Bushbuck, Hyena, Nigerian Bohor Reedbuck, Central African Cob, and Warthog in Group B and the Red-flanked Duiker, Western Bush Duiker, Sudan Oribi, Python, Civet, and Baboon in Group C.

Please see the additional menu for trophy fees that are not included in the big game safari. Note that only one of each species may be hunted; it is illegal to hunt more than one trophy of the same species, irrespective of the hunting license.

Anti-Poaching & Community-Development Program

Note that a 10% fee additional to the listed trophy fee will be collected to fund anti-poaching and community development programs, as well as to advocate the value of wildlife to villagers adjacent to the hunting blocks.

Traveling to the Hunting Concenssion

Hunters need to travel to Douala, Cameroon, from where a domestic flight needs to be taken to Garoua. Hunters will be met at the airport, and from there, the hunting concession will be reached after a 5-8hr drive, depending on your camp.

The domestic flight costs approximately US$410 for a round trip.

Rifles & Calibers 

A larger caliber 300, such as a .338 or 300 Win Mag or bigger, will be needed to take down this magnificent antelope. A 7mm loaded with soft expanding bullets can get the job done. Based on the size of the Lord Derby Eland as Africa’s largest antelope, and the terrain they inhabit, a .375 H & H would be first prize for this sought-after African plains game trophy.
