The concession is more than 1,400 hectares and boasts a wealth of plains game, making it the ideal location for both hunters and non-hunting parties to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Traveling to the Limpopo Province

Hunters will fly into OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The Outfitter will meet you at the airport, after which a 3-hour road transfer will have you arriving at the Limpopo concession.

For hunters bringing in their own rifles, they must complete a SAPS 520 application upon entry into the country.

    The Hunting Grounds

As part of the Springbok Flats, these hunting grounds consist of a combination of mixed grasslands, bushveld, and grassland.

The 3266-acre concession has several dams that attract wildlife to the area. The vegetation consists of dense thickets and open spaces. This challenges hunters to be skilled in walk-and-stalk techniques, as visibility can be difficult in dense bushveld areas.

    Accommodation & Lodging

This accommodation allows hunters to really feel that they are home in Africa, offering traditional round African huts, or rondavels as the accommodation option on the reserve. There are three rondavels that each carry an African theme throughout with their décor. The rondavels have an en-suite bathroom and can sleep up to four people per hut. The rondavels each enjoy their own private patio, perfect for game viewing or enjoying a sundowner in the tranquil bush setting.

Guests can enjoy this tranquil accommodation option, set in the middle of the African bush, offering spacious entertainment areas, braai (BBQ), and dining areas. For guests wanting to cool off, the swimming pool, in the entertainment area, is surrounded by a shady lapa and wild bush, and is the perfect spot to unwind after a day’s hunting.

For non-hunters, there is a wide variety of activities to enjoy, including game drives (day and night), game walks, bird watching, and fishing in one of the dams. Other activities can also be arranged at a fee.

    Tips when hunting Tsessebe

    • Hunt this traditional plains game species during the drier months, when they are more likely to congregate around existing waterholes
    • Tsessebe are more active during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning and late afternoon. Plan your hunt accordingly
    • Hunting methods for this trophy include walk and stalk, spot and stalk, or hunting from a blind
    • Tsessebe prefer to graze on lightly wooded areas, open grasslands, or flood plains – focus your hunts on these areas
    • For a more challenging hunt, consider bow hunting
    • Tsessebe are highly sociable and travel in herds, making them difficult to approach without detection
    • Do some research about shot placement to ensure a quick and ethical kill
    • A good level of physical fitness is recommended, as African plains game hunts require a good deal of walking and stalking
    • Trust your PH on the hunt, as he is knowledgeable about the local conditions, species, and the environment as a whole
    • Educate yourself about local regulations and required hunting permits and requirements

If any further information is required regarding this 3-species plains game hunt, or you are seeking a custom hunting safari including additional hunters, please contact our team at Game Hunting Safaris, or message Michael.
