    Traveling for Hunt in Limpopo

Hunters must fly into OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. A road transfer to the hunting lodge will take approximately 3 hours and is included in the package price.

    The Hunting Ranch

Situated in Limpopo, South Africa’s hunting capital, these hunting grounds are renowned for their exceptional plains game. Part of the Springbok Flats, the terrain is a combination of mixed bushveld, grasslands, and thornveld.

The vegetation usually consists of dense thickets and open spaces, so hunters need to be skilled in walk-and-stalk techniques, as visibility can be challenging in dense bushveld areas. The 3266-acre concession has several dams, attracting game to the area.

    Hunting Lodge and Accomodation

The hunting accommodation brings through a rich African theme, with guests staying in traditional rondavels or African huts. There are three rondavels, each with en-suite bathrooms, and these can sleep up to four people per hut. Each rondavel has its own private patio, perfect for game viewing or enjoying a sundowner in the tranquil bush setting.

The accommodation is situated in the heart of the bush with spacious entertainment, braai (barbecue), and dining areas. The swimming pool in the entertainment area is surrounded by a shady lapa and wild bush.

For non-hunters, there is a wide variety of activities to enjoy, including game drives (day and night), game walks, bird watching, as well as fishing in one of the dams. Other activities can also be arranged.

    Tips when Plains Game Hunting

Hunting in South Africa remains a sought-after adventure for those seeking to harvest high-quality trophies and experience an unforgettable African safari. Check out some tips when plains game hunting in Limpopo:

    • While South African safaris are available throughout the year, the best time to hunt is from May to September, when the vegetation is shorter, allowing easier visibility for hunters. The animals are also more likely to gather around remaining water holes during the dry season.
    • Limpopo is the perfect destination for hunters wanting a challenging plains game hunting environment, offering diverse landscapes and testing terrain, with species including small, medium, and large trophies
    • A good level of physical fitness is recommended, as plains game hunts require a good deal of walking and stalking
    • Trust your PH on the hunt, as he is knowledgeable about local conditions, species, and the environment as a whole
    • Hunting methods for African plains game hunting in South Africa include the walk-and-stalk method, as well as the spot-and-stalk method
    • A suitable rifle to consider when plains game hunting is a .270 upwards, depending on the size of the trophy
    • Take time to research shot placement on your chosen trophies, to ensure a quick and ethical hunting safari
    • Educate yourself about local regulations and required hunting permits and requirements
    • The African sun can be deceptive in its strength – Ensure that you wear a hat, sunblock, and keep hydrated during your hunt
