The province of Niassa in Mozambique is one of the last remaining areas that is still considered “old and wild Africa.” Niassa is a vast, remote and untouched wilderness situated in the northern area of Mozambique, with the famous Lake Malawi to the west and bordering Tanzania to the North.
This prime dangerous game hunting concession is famous for Leopard hunting, with the area having a history of producing “big cats.” Leopards in this area thrive due to all the anti-poaching efforts and wildlife management programs.
As Leopards are classified as vulnerable by the IUCN and as such a CITES permit is required before commencement of the hunt.
Niassa Province in Mozambique

The Niassa Reserve is beautifully managed by having moderate quota allocations per species, age-appropriate harvesting and is well isolated from human activities. Niassa is in fact the largest conservation area in Mozambique, with a surface are of more than 26 000 square miles.
This incredible offering not only includes a trophy Leopard, but plains game hunting for both Sable and Niassa Wildebeest.

The Leopard hunt will be done by using the baiting method. An option to pre-bait before commencement of the safari can be arranged directly with the outfitter. Baits will be checked daily, and trails cams will be made use of to identify trophy Leopards.
Once a bait has been hit by a big Tom, a temporary blind will be constructed, and it will be “game on.” Leopard hunting is a game of extreme patience, but a successful hunt will be incredibly rewarding.
In Mozambique, hunting Leopard with hounds is legal.
You will fly into OR Tambo international airport in South Africa and then take an airlink flight to Phemba Mozambique. On arrival at Phemba you will then take a charter flight (to be arranged with your outfitter) that will take you to your hunting camp. The hunting areas are true “wild Africa” and road transport to camp is near impossible. The Charter is $5000 round trip (subject, like all things to change), but this can be less if there are any guests sharing. Please note that the charter would need to be booked at least 2 months in advance and must be paid in cash on the day of your flight or pre-paid by transfer.
Each of the camps has luxury safari tents with bathroom and toilet ensuite, and hot and cold running water 24/7. All camps have their own solar systems or generators for power supplies as well as high speed satellite internet and all other necessities required to make for a comfortable stay.
Daily laundry service is of course offered and included. Each camp is complete with iridium satellite phone in case of an emergency. We encourage clients to hire a phone prior to the safari if they wish to be able to call home on the hunt.
