Some African species stand apart, not because of numbers, but because of what they represent. This 11-day Namibia hunting safari is built around three truly iconic trophies: the elusive Greater Kudu, the immense Cape Eland, and the unmistakable Giraffe.

Rather than a high-volume plains game package, this African plains game hunt is designed for hunters seeking a more considered experience focused on larger-bodied, highly sought-after species that define hunting in southern Africa.

Pursue the legendary Grey Ghost through Namibia’s bushveld, track Africa’s largest antelope across rugged terrain, and experience the unique challenge of hunting giraffe on a safari that combines variety, challenge, and authentic African hunting.

    The Hunting Package

    1 x Hunter | 1 x Professional Hunter
11 Days Plains Game Hunting in Namibia | Greater Kudu / Cape Eland / Giraffe
    US$ 5,990

    The Hunting Experience

This safari takes place across diverse Namibian hunting terrain consisting of semi-desert landscapes, open savannas, rocky hills, and thicker bushveld sections. These varying habitats create excellent opportunities for challenging and rewarding spot-and-stalk hunting.

Greater Kudu are renowned for their sharp senses and ghost-like ability to disappear into thick cover, making them one of Africa’s most respected plains game trophies. Cape Eland hunts require patience and persistence, often covering significant distances through rugged country, while giraffe provide a unique and surprisingly demanding hunting experience that many hunters rank among the most memorable of their safari.

This hunt is ideally suited to hunters seeking a traditional Namibian safari focused on quality over quantity, while still allowing the flexibility to add additional species.

    Additional Species Available

Looking to make the most of your time in Namibia? A wide selection of additional plains game species is available by simply paying trophy fees.

From Gemsbok, Zebra, Wildebeest, and Warthog to specialised species such as Damara Dik-Dik and even Leopard opportunities (subject to availability), this safari can easily be customised to suit your hunting goals.

Pay only trophy fees for additional species hunted.

    Extend your Namibian Safari

For hunters wanting to experience even more of Namibia, optional fishing adventures can be added onto your safari.

Choose between fishing the legendary Okavango River for hard-fighting Tigerfish and Catfish, often accompanied by sightings of Hippo and Crocodile, or enjoy coastal angling opportunities at Henties Bay targeting species such as Cob, Steenbras, Galjoen, and several shark species.

This is an excellent way to round off your African hunting safari with something entirely different.

How Plains Game Hunting Works In Namibia

A typical plains game hunt in Namibia is active, varied, and shaped by both terrain and animal movement. Hunting days generally begin early, often before sunrise, when temperatures are cooler and game is naturally more active.

After a light breakfast and checking rifles, hunters head into the concession with their Professional Hunter, tracker, and hunting vehicle. Depending on the target species and recent animal movement, the day may involve driving to likely areas before continuing on foot using spot-and-stalk methods, glassing from elevated vantage points, or carefully tracking fresh sign.

For species such as Cape Eland and Greater Kudu hunts, patience and persistence are often key. Long periods of glassing, careful stalks through bushveld, and covering ground on foot are all part of the experience. Conditions can change quickly, requiring hunters to adapt to wind, terrain, and animal behaviour throughout the day.

Midday may include a short return to camp or a break in shaded areas during the hottest hours before heading back out for the productive late afternoon period when animals begin moving again.

Every hunting day is different, which is part of what makes plains game hunting in Namibia so rewarding.

Why Namibia Remains a Favorite for Plains Game Hunters

Namibia has earned a reputation as one of Africa’s premier plains game hunting destinations, attracting hunters from around the world seeking both trophy quality and authentic hunting experiences. The country’s vast landscapes, strong wildlife management practices, and diverse habitats create ideal conditions for sustainable hunting and healthy game populations.

What makes plains game hunting in Namibia especially rewarding is the challenge. Hunting here is seldom a matter of simply arriving at a waterhole and waiting. Spot-and-stalk methods, patient glassing, careful shot placement, and long hours covering ground are often all part of the experience.

Greater Kudu are famously known as the “Grey Ghost” for good reason, blending effortlessly into thick bush and disappearing almost impossibly into cover. Cape Eland may be Africa’s largest antelope, but their size should not be mistaken for ease — these animals can travel long distances through rugged terrain and require persistence to hunt successfully. Giraffe hunts are often underestimated, yet offer their own unique challenge due to their awareness, height advantage, and the need for precise shot placement.

For hunters seeking a safari that combines beautiful landscapes, challenging hunting, and iconic African species, Namibia consistently ranks among the continent’s finest destinations.

Understanding Shot Placement on African Safaris

For hunters travelling to Africa for the first time, one important consideration is that shot placement for African game can differ from species commonly hunted in North America or Europe.

Animals such as kudu, eland, and giraffe are anatomically different from deer species, with vital organs often positioned slightly further forward and lower than many international hunters may expect. Understanding these differences is an important part of ensuring ethical, effective shot placement.

Fortunately, hunters are guided every step of the way by experienced Professional Hunters who will discuss shot opportunities, animal positioning, shooting angles, and recommended shot placement before opportunities arise in the field.

As with all ethical hunting, patience and waiting for the right shot are key. Whether pursuing a mature kudu bull through thick bush or lining up on a giraffe at distance, careful shot selection plays an important role in a successful safari.
