The hunting concession covers approximately 5,000 hectares of diverse Namibian terrain near Grootfontein. The area combines open savannah, thorn bush, rocky hills, and semi-desert habitat, creating ideal conditions for a wide variety of plains game species. Large open areas allow hunters to glass for game at a distance before planning a stalk, while thicker bushveld sections demand patience and careful shot placement. The varied terrain ensures that each species presents its own unique challenge. Healthy populations of plains game thrive throughout the concession, while the region's reputation for producing quality trophies continues to attract hunters from around the world seeking an authentic Namibian safari experience.

    A Well-Balanced Plains Game Safari

Few hunting packages offer the diversity found in this safari. The species list includes some of Namibia's most sought-after antelope, as well as iconic African game such as Burchell's Zebra Hunts, Warthog Hunts, Giraffe Hunts, and Black-backed Jackal safaris.

From the impressive horns of a mature Greater Kudu to the sheer size of a Cape Eland and the striking appearance of a Gemsbok, each species brings something different to the experience. The result is a well-rounded safari that allows hunters to collect a variety of memorable trophies while experiencing the diversity that makes hunting in Namibia so rewarding.

The package is particularly appealing to first-time African hunters, while still offering enough variety to satisfy experienced sportsmen returning in search of multiple species.

    Different Species, Different Hunting Challenges

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this safari is the variety of hunting methods required throughout the hunt. Each species behaves differently and demands its own approach in the field. Gemsbok hunts, Blue Wildebeest hunts, and Eland hunts often involve covering large areas of open country, glassing from vantage points, and planning careful stalks before closing the distance. Kudu hunts frequently take place in thicker bushveld and broken terrain, where patience and persistence are often rewarded with opportunities on mature bulls.

Zebra and Giraffe hunts can be surprisingly challenging due to the animals' excellent eyesight and ability to spot movement at considerable distances. Impala hunts often require quick decision-making, while Warthog hunts can range from spot-and-stalk opportunities across open plains to encounters around water sources and feeding areas.

The variety of species, terrain, and hunting techniques ensures that no two hunting days are ever quite the same.

    Optional Fishing Adventures

Hunters wishing to extend their stay can also enjoy fishing excursions on the Okavango River or at Henties Bay.

The Okavango River offers excellent opportunities for Tigerfish and Catfish, while sightings of Hippo and Crocodile add to the experience. Henties Bay provides both shore-based and boat fishing depending on the season, with species including Cob, Steenbras, Galjoen, and several shark species available.

    Traveling to Grootfontein

Hunters have two options for reaching the hunting area. The first is to fly into Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek before undertaking a road transfer of approximately 6.5 hours to the hunting concession. The second option is to take a domestic flight from Windhoek to Rundu Airport, followed by a road transfer of approximately two hours to the lodge.

When planning this safari, hunters should allow two travel days in addition to the hunting days.
