Traveling to South Africa

The Free State Province
Our Free State hunting grounds are roughly 5,000 acres of vast open plains stretching across gently rolling terrain, perfect for long-distance shooting and spot-and-stalk hunting. This region is known for its clear lines of sight and wide, open areas. Clients are advised to bring rifles capable of accurate shooting at extended distances.
The Free State is home to a rich variety of indigenous plains game and exotic species. Hunters can expect to encounter Blesbok, Black Wildebeest, Springbok, Red Hartebeest, Zebra, and Eland.
Hunting Lodge in South Africa
When the sun starts setting, hunters head back to the hunting lodge, which offers all the comforts of home. From en-suite bathrooms with hot showers to comfortable beds and rooms, hunters can relax and enjoy some hearty South African meals and hospitality.
Wildebeest are often hunted using the walk-and-stalk method, but hunters need to be cautious so as not to alert the herd during the stalk. Wildebeest can also be hunted from a blind overlooking a water hole.
Wildebeest hunting should not be conducted with any caliber less than .270. Flat shooting .300 magnums loaded with 200 grains to 220 grains are the best option. A .308 with a bullet weighing not less than 165 grains can be used, but shot placement is critical. Wildebeest are exceptionally tough and are known for their ability to “eat lead.” The hunter need not be afraid to use something even bigger, such as a .338, .375, or a .416 Rigby for a successful hunt.
