Tiaan, Keenan and their team have built a reputation for delivering well-organised hunting safaris across South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Working with a network of carefully selected hunting areas, they offer hunters access to quality dangerous game and plains game opportunities in some of Southern Africa's most productive hunting regions. Their focus is simple: good hunting, honest advice, quality trophies and an enjoyable safari experience from arrival to departure.
Whether tracking buffalo through thick bushveld, waiting on a crocodile along the water's edge or helping a hunter judge a mature sable bull, the team understands that African hunting rarely goes exactly according to plan. Fortunately, the best stories usually start that way.
Hunters will fly into OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Road transfers from OR Tambo to the hunting grounds are available at US$ 600 return, with the journey taking about 3 hours. Alternatively, a charter flight is available, price upon request.
Limpopo Province has earned a reputation as one of the country's premier destinations for Cape Buffalo Hunting in South Africa. The region's mix of thick bushveld, river systems and well-managed wildlife areas creates ideal conditions for pursuing mature buffalo bulls on foot while also supporting exceptional crocodile and plains game hunting opportunities.
Limpopo has earned a strong reputation for Hunting Crocodile in South Africa, with numerous rivers, dams and waterways providing ideal habitat for mature Nile crocodiles. Unlike buffalo hunting, which often involves covering ground on foot, crocodile hunting is a game of patience, observation and waiting for the perfect shot opportunity. Together, these two iconic species create a safari that tests very different hunting skills.
At the heart of the property sits a luxurious lodge catering for a maximum of 10 guests. This picturesque property offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. Guests will enjoy spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, gourmet kitchen facilities, and a private chef. An outdoor campfire area and panoramic views of the breathtakingly beautiful African landscape.
The sable is widely considered one of Africa's most prestigious plains game trophies. Known for its striking black coat, distinctive white markings and impressive curved horns, it remains high on the wish list of many hunters visiting Africa. Few experiences compare to Sable Hunting in South Africa, where hunters have the opportunity to pursue one of Africa's most elegant antelope species. Adding a sable to this safari complements the dangerous game elements perfectly. While Cape Buffalo Hunting in South Africa and Nile crocodile hunting provide excitement and intensity, sable hunting offers a classic spot-and-stalk experience that rewards patience, fieldcraft and accurate shooting.
Hunting a Nile crocodile is very different to hunting buffalo or plains game. There is usually far less walking and a lot more waiting. Crocodiles are masters of doing absolutely nothing for hours at a time, right up until the moment they decide to move. Most crocodile hunts are conducted by spotting a suitable animal along a riverbank or dam, from a blind overlooking bait, or by carefully stalking into position for a shot. Early mornings and late afternoons are often the most productive times, when crocodiles are more likely to be out basking in the sun.
A .375 calibre rifle is generally considered the minimum for dangerous game hunting in South Africa, but knowing your Crocodile Shot Placement is every bit as important as the rifle you carry. The vital area is smaller than many hunters expect, which is why your professional hunter will want to make absolutely certain the crocodile is positioned correctly before you pull the trigger.
The biggest challenge for many hunters is resisting the temptation to rush the shot. A crocodile can lie motionless for what feels like an eternity, testing both your patience and your ability to stay focused.
When to Hunt Cape Buffalo in South Africa
While hunting is available throughout the year in South Africa, the peak season for enjoying Cape buffalo hunting – and, in fact, any hunting in the region – is during the cooler, drier months (May to September). During these cooler months, the hunt is more manageable in terms of critters and bugs, and the vegetation and grasses are also shorter, allowing the hunter to spot and stalk his prey more easily. Animals are more likely to gather in or around water holes, increasing the opportunities for hunters to complete a successful hunt.
If any further information is required regarding this big game hunt in South Africa, or you are seeking a custom hunting safari including additional hunters, don't hesitate to get in touch with our team at Game Hunting Safaris.
Please note that terms, conditions and price are subject to change without notice and rates at the time of the hunt will apply
