Traveling to the hunt in South Africa

OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg is the destination of choice for hunters flying into South Africa. From there, a three-hour road transfer will have them at the Limpopo hunting grounds. The return transfer costs US$ 600, with the option of a charter flight being available – price on request.

The Limpopo Province, SA's hunting Meca!!

These premier hunting grounds are a retreat of comfort and adventure, with nearly 4,000 acres available for an unbelievable Cape buffalo hunt! The property features flat terrain, making it ideal for hunters of all experience levels to enjoy a hunting safari here. The landscape is dominated by thickets, which are ideal for Cape buffalo hunting.

    Hunting Lodge

Hunters can enjoy a taste of Africa, with this luxurious lodge offering the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance.

Guests will enjoy spacious, comfortable bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, gourmet kitchen facilities, and a private chef to whip up some tasty culinary delights. The property is home to some stunning panoramic views while enjoying the outside fire pit area, the perfect place to relax after a challenging day in the bush.

    Hunting Methods & Rifle Calibers

For those hunters bringing their firearms into South Africa, a SAPS 520 Import Form needs to be completed.

When hunting dangerous game in Africa, the minimum legal requirement is a .375. A well-placed bullet from a 416 Rugby, 404 Jeffery, 458 WM, or Lott will bring down Africa’s Black Death. Double rifles such as the 470NE, 500NE are often preferred to get this beast in the salt. A reminder to ensure that your shot placement is accurate – a wounded Cape buffalo is no laughing matter!

Why choose a hunting safari in SA?

South Africa is one of the premier game hunting regions in Africa. But what makes this destination so popular? Firstly, it is easily accessible from anywhere worldwide, with daily international flights landing at one of the three international airports. Domestic flights are quick, offering hunters a variety of options to be able to hunt in any of the country’s nine provinces and to reach them with ease, whether by domestic flights or charter flights. The road system is also well developed, with many Outfitters offering road transfers to their hunting grounds instead of domestic flights. It takes longer, but allows the hunter to see and experience South Africa.

While many countries have a restricted hunting season, hunting takes place throughout the year in South Africa, with the peak season in the cooler months from May to August. While many African destinations can be quite expensive when considering a hunting safari, South African hunts are seen as value for money, with outfitters seen as some of the best worldwide, and South African hospitality being legendary.

South Africa can offer hunters the best of both worlds: Whether they are interested in a big game safari featuring the Big 5, or perhaps an iconic African plains game hunt, the destination ticks all the boxes in terms of species, variety, abundance, and overall hunting experience. South Africa is also the only destination worldwide, apart from Namibia, where all members of Africa’s Big 5 can be hunted (With this being said, no Leopard permits have been issued in quite some time).

Lastly, this diverse destination offers travelers great family getaways and holidays, allowing hunters to easily travel with family and other non-hunting parties.
