    Limpopo: Premier Game Hunting Destination

Limpopo is one of South Africa’s most diverse and popular provinces for plains game hunting, combining open grasslands, bushveld, valleys, hills and mountainous terrain across extensive private hunting areas. This varied landscape supports a wide range of African game species, giving hunters the flexibility to pursue focused species hunts or broader plains game hunts in a single region. For anyone planning an African hunting trip, Limpopo offers opportunities to pursue classic species such as wildebeest hunts, warthog and gemsbok hunts, while experiencing the distinctive landscape and hunting traditions of South African hunting safaris. Its established hunting industry, experienced Professional Hunters, comfortable lodges and relatively easy access from Johannesburg further add to its appeal for international hunters

    Sought-After Trophies

Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Gemsbok, Zebra, and Warthog hunts each offer a different hunting challenge and are among the species that make African plains game hunts so diverse.

From the strength and unpredictable nature of a Wildebeest to the alertness and agility of Impala, the distinctive appearance of Gemsbok, the challenge of Zebra and the character of Warthog, these species provide hunters with a varied collection of trophies and hunting experiences.

    The Outfitter

Hannes and his team have been conducting plains game and dangerous game hunts in Limpopo since 2006, operating in the Kransberge region of the Waterberg Mountain range near Thabazimbi. The team welcomes both new and experienced hunters, with safaris designed around individual needs. The lodge is family-friendly, and Hannes encourages hunters to bring additional visitors and family members to enjoy the Limpopo Province.

    Additional Plains Game

Hunters can add further species to their safari by paying only the applicable trophy fees. There are more than 35 huntable species available on the ranch, with some of the more popular species listed under the "Additional Animals" drop down menu.

Customized hunting packages are also available on request. Contact the Game Hunting Safaris team or Hannes directly for additional species and trophy fees.

    Hunting in South Africa

The Waterberg provides a varied hunting environment of mountains, valleys, plains and open grassland. The Kransberge region offers particularly diverse terrain, giving hunters the opportunity to experience different hunting situations during the safari.

This combination of terrain and species makes the hunt a sought-after option, particularly for hunters looking for varied plains game hunting in South Africa.

    Hunting Methods

The safari follows traditional African hunting methods, with walk-and-stalk hunting emphasizing the principles of fair chase. A safari truck may also be used to cover more ground across the hunting area. The terrain consists of hilly, mountainous and open grassland areas. Hunters may also use the ambush method by positioning themselves along frequently used game trails and strategic vantage points.

Each species presents its own shot opportunity, making accurate shot placement for African game important for a clean and ethical harvest.

Traveling to the Limpopo Hunting Grounds

Hunters arriving at Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport will be met by Hannes or a member of his team, who can assist with rifle collections. The road transfer to the hunting lodge takes approximately three hours, traveling through the rolling hills and valleys of Limpopo.

Depending on international flight arrival and departure times, an overnight stay in Johannesburg may be required.

    South African Hunting Season

Limpopo is an extremely popular hunting destination because it combines diverse terrain, abundant plains game and extensive private hunting areas in one province. The landscape ranges from open grasslands and plains to bushveld, hills and mountains, creating a variety of hunting opportunities and allowing hunters to pursue many different species in a single region. Its established hunting industry, experienced Professional Hunters, comfortable lodges and relatively easy access from Johannesburg also make Limpopo an attractive choice for international hunters
