Why visit South Africa for a Plains Game Safari?

    • South Africa is easily accessible from almost any destination worldwide, with daily international flights arriving from cities across the globe.
    • South Africa is seen as a value-for-money destination.
    • Hunting takes place throughout the year, although the cooler winter months are the peak season. During this time, the vegetation tends to be lower, and the animals are therefore more easily visible. They also tend to gather around water holes, making them easier to spot and stalk.
    • When it comes to plains game hunts, South Africa ticks all the boxes in terms of species: From the minute little Steenbok to the huge Eland or majestic Kudu, hunters are spoilt for choice.
    • You can bring the family! South Africa is also the perfect holiday destination for the entire family, offering a variety of tourist activities to enjoy during an African hunting trip.

    Tips when Plains Game Hunting

    • Do your homework and research the species you are hunting – Gain knowledge of their behavior patterns, learn more about shot placement, feeding routines, and so forth
    • Most plains game are more active early morning and late afternoon when it is cooler – Plan your hunt accordingly
    • Practice shooting from sticks, which are commonly used when plains game hunting in South Africa
    • These hunts often feature long stalks and require hunters to walk many miles a day; ensure that you are fit
    • Patience is key; Rome wasn’t built in a day. Exercise patience and restraint to harvest that perfect trophy
    • Invest in a good pair of binoculars for glassing for trophies
    • The African sun can be deceptive in its strength. Wear a hat, sunscreen, and keep hydrated
