    Your African Outfitter

Ricus and his team of experienced Professional Hunters and staff are ready to provide an unforgettable African hunting experience. Based in the scenic Waterberg region of Limpopo, the outfitter has decades of experience conducting plains game, dangerous game, and specialty hunts.

    Traveling to the Hunting Grounds

Hunters will fly into Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport, where the outfitter will meet them. Hunters traveling with their own firearms will need to complete the required SAPS 520 temporary firearm import documentation.

A road transfer of approximately 2½ hours will then take hunters from Johannesburg to the hunting concession. The price of the transfer is included in the package.

    Hunting in Limpopo

Limpopo is one of South Africa's premier hunting regions, offering varied bushveld terrain and excellent populations of plains game. The province is particularly well-suited to multi-species safaris, allowing hunters to pursue several different animals without constantly changing hunting areas.

This combination of accessible hunting, diverse game and experienced Professional Hunters makes hunting in South Africa particularly appealing to both first-time African hunters and experienced hunters returning for another safari.

    Hunting Methods

The plains game on this safari will primarily be hunted using the walk-and-stalk and spot-and-stalk methods. Early mornings and late afternoons are generally the most productive periods, when animals are active and temperatures are more comfortable.

Ridges and suitable vantage points will be glassed to locate game before the stalk begins. The varied Limpopo bushveld can provide plenty of cover, but hunters should still be prepared to move carefully and patiently to get within effective shooting range.

For hunters planning their first plains game hunt, the combination of different species on this safari provides an excellent opportunity to experience several styles of African hunting during one trip.

    Included Species

Blue Wildebeest are renowned for their toughness and can turn a seemingly straightforward stalk into a demanding hunt. Wildebeest hunts reward patience, careful positioning and accurate shot placement. Zebra are another iconic African trophy. Their alert nature and strong herd instincts can make closing the distance challenging, while their distinctive hide makes them one of the most recognizable trophies in Africa. Zebra hunts are a popular addition to multi-species plains game safaris.

Impala, Blesbok and Warthog hunts add further variety, each requiring a different approach and offering its own challenges in the Limpopo bushveld.

    Hunting Season

Hunting is available throughout the year in South Africa, although the cooler, drier months from approximately May through September are generally considered the prime period for hunting in Limpopo. During these months, temperatures are more comfortable, vegetation is often less dense and animals can be easier to locate. Summer hunting can be considerably hotter, with thicker vegetation and seasonal rains creating additional challenges.

    Shot Placement

Accurate African game shot placement is essential when hunting plains game, particularly with tough species such as Wildebeest and Zebra. Hunters should take the time to identify a clear broadside or suitable quartering-away shot and wait for the animal to present a responsible opportunity. Knowing the anatomy of each species before arriving will help ensure a clean, ethical harvest and reduce the risk of a lengthy tracking exercise.

If any further information is required regarding this hunt, or you are seeking a custom safari with additional hunters or species, contact the Game Hunting Safaris team or message Ricus directly using the quick message icons.
