Traveling to Limpopo

International hunters arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and travel approximately three hours by road to the hunting area. Wesley or a member of his team will assist with airport procedures and firearm documentation.

Depending on flight schedules, an overnight stay in Johannesburg may be required before or after the safari.

Hunting in Limpopo

One of South Africa's most popular hunting provinces, Limpopo is divided broadly into the eastern Lowveld and western bushveld. The Lowveld borders the Kruger region and is known for dangerous game as well as a wide range of plains game. The western bushveld contains a large concentration of private game ranches.

The province supports a wide variety of African plains game, including kudu, wildebeest, warthog, sable, roan and tsessebe. Private game ranching, anti-poaching programs and wildlife management have contributed to increased game populations across many areas.

Plains Game Hunting in Limpopo

The primary hunting method is spot-and-stalk. Hunters glass suitable areas, identify an animal and then work closer using available cover and terrain. Rifle hire is available at an additional US$20 per hunting day. Hunters wishing to bring their own rifles into the country require permits, including the SAPS 520 form, along with supporting documents such a passport copy, letter of invitation from the outfitter, proof of firearm ownership and airline ticket copy. US citizens should also carry Customs Form 4457.
