Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs: Cuisine during my African Hunting Safari

The variety of the food served on your game hunting safari in Africa will not be too exotic and you will recognize many dishes.

Breakfast is usually your typical continental breakfast, consisting of fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereals. Depending on your outfitter you may also have a warm breakfast (includes eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, and toast). This is accompanied by tea, coffee, and juice.

Lunch and dinner can include meat that has been shot during the hunts, but your outfitter will have a beautifully prepared meal plan with fresh vegetables and may include lamb, chicken, and local offerings such as ostrich, venison or beef.

Desserts are often South African favorites and may include options such as milk tart, malva pudding, or koeksisters. Koeksisters are a particularly enjoyable snack and consist of fried dough dipped in a rich syrup, which then may or may not be rolled in coconut, but either way is delectable!

Yes, you may well enjoy the venison that has been shot by the hunters during your time there.

The chef at your camp will have no problem preparing a delicious meal with meat from your hunting trip, all you have to do is ask. Venison can be prepared in many mouthwatering ways and this, paired with a local South African wine, will result in a top-notch meal being enjoyed.

Also on the menu during your African hunting trip could be dishes including lamb, chicken, and beef.
The best answer to this question would be to ask your African outfitter. However, there will be bottled water available throughout your game hunting safari, and we do suggest sticking with this option to avoid any stomach upsets or feeling ill.

FAQs: Tipping on my African hunting trip

You will tip your PH, tracker, skinner as well as the rest of the staff who participated in the game hunting safaris or were responsible for your stay, such as the cook, cleaners and so forth.

A suggestion would be to tip the staff yourself rather than leave it for the outfitter or admin office to arrange it and in this manner, you do get to thank the team who made your safari hunting experience a memorable one. It is this team that went out of its way to ensure a positive game hunting experience for you.
The figures listed below are purely a guide and again, it is optional but very much appreciated.
