    Plains Game Hunting in Mozambique

Mozambique’s untamed Niassa Province in northern Mozambique offers vast areas of wild terrain with little fencing, allowing hunters to experience authentic free-range hunts. Don’t let your guard down while hunting; this region is renowned for its quality dangerous game, including Lion, Leopard, and Cape buffalo.

    Available Species to Hunt

This 10-day safari will see hunters choosing a minimum of 5 plains game species to harvest. Niassa is renowned for its African plains game offerings, including popular species such as the Niassa Wildebeest, Eland, Kudu, Impala, Zebra, Defassa Waterbuck, Common Reedbuck, and many more!

    The Outfitter hosting the Hunt

Enjoy the expertise of this family-run business, with brothers Dean and Hano at the helm.

This outfitter handles hunting safaris in both South Africa and Mozambique, offering clients a variety of quality trophies and exceptional hunting experiences to enjoy. Both African plains game and dangerous game hunting species are available to hunt at various concessions in South Africa and Mozambique.

    Traveling to the Concession

Hunters must fly into Pemba International Airport in Mozambique. From there, hunters can choose between a charter flight or a domestic flight, together with a 6hr drive:

    • Charter a flight on a Cessna 206 from Pemba International Airport to camp (US$ 4,900 return, which can be split between hunters). The flying time to camp is roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes
    • Take a domestic flight from Pemba to Lichinga, after which a 6-hour road trip will see you arrive at the hunting grounds. The cost of this is US$ 1,400 per vehicle

    Hunting Tips

    • The best time to hunt in Niassa is June to November, when the vegetation is shorter, allowing easier visibility for hunters. The animals are also more likely to gather around remaining water sources during this drier season.
    • Mozambique is the perfect African destination for hunters wanting a challenging plains game hunting environment, offering diverse landscapes and testing terrain
    • A good level of physical fitness is recommended, as  plains game hunts require a good deal of walking and stalking
    • Trust your PH on the hunt, as he is knowledgeable about local conditions, species, and the environment as a whole
    • Hunting methods for African plains game hunting include the walk-and-stalk method, as well as the spot-and-stalk method
    • A suitable rifle to consider when plains game hunting is a .270 upwards, depending on the size of the trophy
    • Take time to research shot placement on your chosen trophies, to ensure a quick and ethical hunting safari
    • Educate yourself about local regulations and required hunting permits and requirements
