The hunting lodge near Messina provides a comfortable base throughout the safari, with six air-conditioned chalets featuring comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms. After a day in the field, hunters can relax around the firepit, spend time in the swimming pool or make use of the lodge’s various indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. WiFi and cellphone reception are available for staying in touch with family back home. The resident chef prepares meals throughout the safari, with venison from previous hunts among the menu options. After arriving at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, hunters will take a regional flight to Polokwane Airport in Limpopo. The hunting team will meet hunters there before a short road transfer to the lodge and hunting grounds near Musina.

Hunters bringing their own firearms into South Africa will need to complete the required SAPS 520 firearm import documentation. Wildebeest should not be hunted with a caliber smaller than .270. A .308 can be used with appropriate ammunition, while larger calibers such as .300 magnums, .338, .375 or .416 Rigby can also be considered.
Because wildebeest are exceptionally tough, precise shot placement for large antelope is critical. Hunters should use a caliber they are comfortable shooting accurately and wait for a suitable presentation rather than rushing the shot.
