Traveling to Niassa

Hunters must fly into Pemba International Airport in Mozambique. From there, hunters can choose between a charter flight or a domestic flight, together with a 6hr drive:

• Charter a flight on a Cessna 206 from Pemba International Airport to camp (US$ 4,900 return, which can be split between hunters). The flying time to camp is roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Take a domestic flight from Pemba to Lichinga, after which a 6-hour road trip will see you arrive at the hunting grounds. The cost of this is US$ 1,400 per vehicle

Sable Hunting Tips

These large plains game trophies are quite a challenge to hunt. Check out these tips to help achieve a successful safari hunt:

• Sable are more active early morning or late afternoon when it is cooler, plan the safari accordingly
• Ensure that your shot placement is accurate
• Glassing from a distance will help locate the herd, but then use spot-and-stalk or tracking methods to hunt this large plains game antelope
• The best time to enjoy Sable hunting in Mozambique is from June to November, when the vegetation is shorter, allowing easier visibility for hunters. The animals are also more likely to gather around remaining water sources during this drier season.
